I have an L3901 HST that is on the cusp of 50 hours. I've read the owner's manual, and it appears that there is no scheduled maintenance until 100 hours. I've seen videos on YT about people changing all of the fluids and filters in their tractors at 50 hours.

Do I need to do anything other than watching my fluid levels? I grease the FEL every 10 hours and usually grease the tractor as well since I'm there. I torqued the lug nuts at 5, 10, and 15 hours and there was no change there. Should I just add that light bar to the ROPS and the solid sway bar links that I've been toying with adding and call it a day?

Look in the back on the maintenance schedule page. The first one is 50 hours. You change the oil, replace the hydraulic fluid and transmission filters, grease all fittings and torque the wheel lug nuts. There may be more but that is what I can remember off the top of my head.

Look down the 50 hour column of the maintenance schedule for the bulleted items.

I see it now. Page 87 of the operator's manual. I was looking in the text which starts at 100 hours.

Thanks for the help!

I'm in the same boat now. Planning on oil change and filter + HST filter. Are there 2 hydraulic filters (1 for general & 1 for HST only or just 1)? Mine is HST

I had the dealer do my 50hr. Figured if they screwed up,they have to fix it.....besides it was hotter than Hades that week...something I can't cope with. I've done all the rest though, I just 'book all day' to do it.

I changed my hydraulic fluid at 50 hours just because I wanted to replace it with Super UDT. It was probably a waste of money,. but I did it anyway.

So I was looking in the Operators Manual for my LX2610HDSC tonight, specifically for width dimensions. What really popped out at me was just above that information (page 31) under "Capacities". Engine Crankcase (with filter) - 4.0 Liters (4.2 US Gals). WAIT..... WHAT? Not willing to believe my eyes, I went to the "Changing engine oil" section (page 124). Ahhhh.... more like it... - 4.0L (4.2 US QUARTS).

But now I wonder what else is wrong - Torque specs? Temperatures? Pressures? Clearance measurements?

A US quart is similar but not the same as a liter. 4. 2 gallons. Now that’s funny.

I have always used the Ford racing principal in regards to new engines (piston/ring engines). On my tractor I changed the engine oil and filter the first time at 1 hour, and then did everything at 50hrs. I picked it up with .4 hrs on it. I have followed the rest by the book.

I have done this with everything over the last 30 years. Cars, trucks, atv's, mowers, chainsaws etc.

I used to do the same. Motor oil change early, maybe 1,000 miles. Last couple have waivered, maybe 2,000 miles.

Current truck had GM "free" first service, at 7,500 miles. No thanks. I did take advantage, but I think it was 3rd....

I will suggest changing ALL the fluids and filters, despite the manual stating otherwise.

I hated the whine from the HST and, while not eliminating it, it did diminish it quite a bit. Others have stated the same/

It really is not that bad, money or work wise.

Guys I just did a 50-hour today on my LX3310.

Something weird though and I triple-checked everything. I removed the transmission filter and the hydraulic filter but the new ones would not screw on unless I swapped them. The hydraulic filter only screwed into the transmission and the transmission filter would only screw into the hydraulic.

Double-checked part numbers and everything. Is perhaps the manual mistaken? It must be my error but the two filters have different type ends for mating.

Thanks for the help.

Bought all the stuff today for the 50 hour service. I bought from the dealer since the tractor is still under warranty and I figured using Kubota parts may prevent an argument later if there were a warranty issue.

I wish they kissed me before they nailed me for $465 for the parts and fluid. Geesh.

Correction: $416. But still...

Holy crap. My dealer will actually DO the 50 hour service for $300-350 Per quote. I have to get the oil yet and a little more trany fluid but will be less than $200 for everything For my diy.

Should have bought you dinner, then kissed you..... 🦞 😘

I'm just poking fun.

That said, I agree with getting Kubota parts from dealer.

SUDT2 fluid is likely a big part, but I can think maybe 6-7 gallons at $175 or so??!?!

I ask only because I staunchly agree that fluids and some filters be changed at 50.

I don't think air filters or fuel filters need changing at 50....

Your L3901 is much different than my little BX, but I think you might have some parts you can put on the shelf for next service......

If you don't mind, itemized, what did you get for $416?

I don’t know the tractor….

From parts diagram it appears the hydraulic filter is on the right side of the tractor (while sitting in seat facing forward) and the HST filter is on the left side of the tractor.
