2016 Motorcycle cannonball Century race

Started Today. 1916 and older motorcycles and cars. Hence "Century Race"
They are leaving Atlantic City, New Jersey this morning heading across the USA ending in Carlsbad California on the 25th.

Thanks Skeets. This is an event worth following. It almost makes me wish I had a 100 year old bike... almost. That is one event that would hit my pocket book too hard.

The Cannonball riders will be at Triple S Harley in Morgantown WV. sun at 4:00 till 5:30

Very cool, and nice to see some of those bikes that guys will actually ride, and not just sit for display.

I keep thinking I want to add something old to my collection for those times when you want an attention grabber. (but I'm thinking 50's not 20's)

That's pretty cool. They're passing right thru my area in southern Illinois. I might have to take a ride on my bike to check it out.

Talked to few of my riding buddies yesterday and we are going ride along to Cape Girardeau MO. If we can figure out their route, I'm assuming they won't be traveling the interstate. I'm not on FB so I'm hoping one of the other guys can reach out to them via FB to find out their route. At the very least we will just ride to cape to check out the bikes. If we ride by ourselves it's only about an 1:30hrs away depending on which way we go to get there.

I'll post up some pics on Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

I appreciate the link. I took a look at it earlier this morning on my laptop at work. They don't list the exact route, just that they're leaving Bloomington IN. On Wednesday headed to cape. There are many two lane roads they could take. None of which follow the line on the map. I assume that's just the general direction they're going.

With that said, I really don't know how a cannonball race like this works. Are they actually racing and the route is left up to them as long as they hit all the stops? Or is it that they just want to complete the route as a group?

Anyway, I'm sure we will figure it out one way or another. At the least we will track them down in cape and have fun putting a couple hundred miles on our bikes.

Benhameen, do you have a HAM radio license? If you do, you may be able to find a local HAM operator that knows the route or has spotted some of the bikes along the route. Other than that you will probably just have to guess the most logical route based on the miles they will run that day. We know that they will avoid the Interstate system for the most part but they may have to run on it or along it for a short distance.

OK armylifter gave you the route, NOW if you go down day by day, you will find a Harley Dealer listed as a stop,,,, Now go to google and find the dealer closest to where you want to see them,,, then go to the web page of the dealer, most have an 800 or 888 number. Give them a call tell them your taking pictures for early iron or something like that, and you need the route they are coming to town on so you can get some action photos...simple!

Just made it back from Cape, about a 110 mile ride. Got to see some really sweet bikes and from a conversation I over heard it's a real race.
