I just bought a 1990 L2850gst and it seems to lose power going up hills or when running into anything taxing. I don't know the tractor very well yet, is there an easy fix?

You need to give more info!
Is the motor dogging down?
Is it smoking?
And if so what color.
If you push in the clutch does the motor pick right back up.

The motor doesn't dog down, it stays the same. I even increase the throttle, but the tractor will sometimes just come to a stop. No smoke that I can see.

It could be either the manual clutch or the GST hydraulic clutch.
Most likely it's the manual clutch.
Do you have a PTO powered implement?
If you do put it on and head for a hill, if the implement slows with the tractor then it's the manual clutch slipping, if it does not slow then it's the GST clutch. ;)
