Trying to replace the gauge cluster unit in my BX1850. The replacement cluster LOOKS like it should just pop in/pop out of the dash. But the old one does NOT just pop out. The whole top edge starts out...…….like it's gonna come right out. But it doesn't.

Can't find a thing on YouTube about it. Anyone know the secret to getting the old one out ??

It pops out, not real easily. I use a small screwdriver between the panel and dash to help it out.

That's what I was doing, too. But the panel coming out wanted to break and/or pull apart at the seam.

I guess...…………..if I'm taking it out because it doesn't work and I'm replacing it...…...what does it matter if it's gooned up when it's finally out ??:D

If you can GENTLY compress a tab with screwdriver, slide in a piece of 'shim stock', remove screwdriver and repeat for every tab, it should come out OK.
Best if done in a WARM room of course and PATIENCE is the key !!!

While i haven't done mine, I've replaed a LOT of 'computer screens' and such this way...

Thanks for the shim stock tip.

Biggest thing might be that I'm doing it outside...……….30-ish degrees. I think I may hold off on this til things warm up and soften up a bit.
