I have been using the tractor to haul 60" logs out of the woods to my shed to be blocked up and split for firewood. It has been really wet and muddy here and I have some deep ruts that I'm driving through. How worried do I need to be about keeping the area between the beveled gear case and the front gear case? It is the area in the picture below that is not grayed out. I have been trying to keep it clean, but sometimes it is just to wet to keep it clean. I don't have water close to the shed to clean it before I put it in the shed.

When my local dealer sent a mechanic to fix a coolant leak on my L3901 the mechanic told me to keep that area clean. He said on the older Kubota tractors that area would hold a lot of dirt which would get into the seal and cause the seals to fail. He also told me if I see any sign of fluid leakage in that area to fix it quick as a couple of seals are a lot cheaper than the internal parts.
