I'm replacing the water pump on my L2650 and was wondering if any one had thoughts on aftermarket water pumps, who has the best one? I had ordered one from Coleman equipment for 110.00, and then I received an email that there was a new part number, and the price went up to 165.00. I was wondering if Kubota still makes there on or does one of these aftermarket companies make it for them.

A guy here bought an aftermarket WP for his B that was of a similar vintage. The fins were oversized and couldnt rotate freely without being ground down a bit.

Pick wisely!
May years ago I bought a aftermarket pump for my L3450, and the propeller came off the back of the shaft and ate the housing.
My little money save ended up costing me $650+ for a new housing, seals, and gaskets.
There are certain parts it's just not worth it! ;)

Mickey, the is one on amazon for $87.00. I would personally bite the bullet and buy Kubota. We all have to take our own chances.

In today's world of Cheap China junk, I too say buy the OE pump. Think about this, you save a few bucks on a water pump, it fails and you don't catch it until the engine has seriously over heated. Your few bucks savings will probably not even pay the sales tax on a new or rebuilt engine. My $0.02 worth.

Whether you destroy an engine or not, think about the trouble of doing it twice!

When I think about cutting corners to save some money, I always ask myself would I be willing to repeat the job for the difference in cost.

It's like when working on a clutch, some folks want to save money so they will only replace the clutch disc and not throw out bearing, pressure plate, or pilot bushing. They have to go back in there as soon as one of those items gives up.

I agree 100%!!!! I have done many timing belt replacements on Toyota V6's and V8's. I always bought the AISIN timing kits because they had the OE water pump with the Toyota emblem machined off so AISIN could sell the OE part in the aftermarket. The kit also had all Japanese bearing idlers tensioners and Japanese aftermarket timing belt. The kits were about $75-&100 more than the Chinese junk and all of my car clients readily agreed for me to use the AISIN kit. ZERO Comebacks!

Definitely too critical of a component to risk not going for a genuine part.

You can sometimes find an OE part cheaper by having the current part number and posting Kubota xxxx-xxxxx on the internet and check the price differences BUT make sure before you buy that it is GENUINE. I am looking for a right rear tail light assembly for my wife's 2014 Lexus RX350. I have the OE part number and posted it online. The low price was $260.00 and the High was $340.00. Different dealers, different prices, same part.
