So I have a L3901. I’ve had it for about 4 years. Recently I’ve been wanting to add a BH77 and a 3rd function for an eventual grapple. I called the dealer today and the quote I got was $9300 installed. That was with no thumb.

Does this seem like a fair price?

What types of grapples do you guys prefer? I’m working on clearing 6 acres that’s covered in 18-24” pine trees.

Cant help with the 3rd function, but in July I bought the bh77 and it was $8500. I also installed the subframe and hoe. They quoted $300 to install it, but I am funny when it comes to other people working on my stuff.

That sounds about what I had come up with when I was looking. I bought a used BH77 with two buckets and the thumb. I then paid another $900 for the sub-frame. I installed the sub-frame myself.

I got my new L series just a few months ago with the BH77 and love it so far.

For 3rd function dealer recommended and I went with the Landpride. Works perfectly. Fit and finish and buttons are really nice. Instead of a rocker switch it has two separate buttons on the control knob which I like. No complaints and nothing I would change.

For a grapple I have an Everything Attachment 50" wicked root grapple. Originally I bought it for my B Series and it was OK but IMHO a little to big. On the L it seems perfect for me and I use it A LOT!! its only 50" wide which is narrower than the wheel width but it is no problems for me. Slow and careful / not a reckless user. I put up about 25 cords of wood per year. Had to cut off pin on mounts and weld on a full size a QA plate which I also like as it protects from sticks going through the open slates of the grapple into the front grill. Amazing how much it handles. Don't think any wider would do anything for me as don't use it as a root rake. Use it to pick up trees after I drop them with chainsaw and cut to fireplace length / keeps chain out of dirt and my back straight. Then pick up branches to pile for winter where I burn them off once the ground is covered with snow.

Those are some good size trees. Pay close attention to the weight of the grapple as you are going to be limited on what you can lift. I have an EA grapple that weighs 400 lbs and I do not think my L3901 would lift an eight foot by 24 inch log.

I added a 3rd function to my recent 3901 order. I'm using it for a snow blade so I can't speak to the grapple, just the 3rd function. One dealer quoted it at $750, the other at $875.
