I bought my B8200 at the end of Oct. and took it apart in the beginning of Nov. For the most part, the mechanicals were in great shape but the poor thing had been sorely neglected in the visual department. The tractor had been treated to a couple of bad rattle can paint jobs by previous owners. The paint was poorly prepped and had very poor adhesion so I was forced to strip the sheet metal and repair it as necessary before priming it with epoxy.

The chassis was cleaned, brushed, scraped, degreased, brushed some more, cleaned one more time and finally called ready for paint. I used zinc chromate primer on any exposed aluminum and zinc primer on exposed steel/iron.

I used Endura two part industrial paint matched to Bright Orange II for the sheetmetal and Endura matched to the new ROPS dark gray for the chassis. Endura is very similar to Dupont Imron, very tough but absolutely requires fresh air supplied breathing equipment. It's also rather pricey @ $75 a quart. I don't mind paying for good quality paint as I figure it's the cheapest part of the job.

I don't smoke but I might need a cigarette after that refurb view.

Looks GREAT, SOCK PUPPET!

Ok, now I have to get my sheet metal back on the B6100 and meet back here for some match ups. Just dropped the panels back to the powder coater after finishing up the "Lab Metal" filler.

That right there gentlemen, is some good lookin' tractor porn.
Mr K do I have to relinquish my spot in the new article? He beats my 95% rebuild by 10%. I'd be scared to use this one - its that nice. I'd almost take it over the new models. No- I'd take it - No problem!

Sockpuppet I can only dream that my B8200 will look any where near that good. If and when I ever get to it. There is a rule of thumb when rebuilding, whether it is a restorod, antique car or truck, or tractor. Mechanical first then appearance. Well your tractors appearance is mechanically georgeous. Fantastic work.:cool::cool: Dusty

Wow! Thanks guys. I really appreciate your responses to my little tractor. :)

I've wanted a Kubota for a long time and when this one came along I knew it was just right for me. It looked rough but all the pieces were there. It starts right up and runs smooth and strong with no funny noises or clouds of smoke. Mechanically, everything works with the exception of the speed control for the TPH which is frozen. I can live with the speed it works at until I get it freed up. The clock reads 875 hrs. but we all know what that's worth.

The electrics were messed up but mostly because the ignition switch was falling apart. Once I got that fixed the rest was just a bunch of corroded connections. I also rebuilt the headlights and put high output LEDs in them.

The front end had obviously been driven into something breaking the plastic grill surround and folding the front of the hood down creating a really unattractive accordion effect in the sides. The grill surround and the little piece over the exhaust (which was MIA) were the only body parts I had to buy. Everything else was repaired with the hood being the most work but there wasn't a straight panel on the tractor. OK, that's wrong, the floor plates were straight.

I also added the ROPS ($175!! Thanks, Kubota) and the R4s.

It's now running with Amsoil in the hydro and Mobil1 in the engine with Amsoil gear oil going into the front end in the next day or so.

Now I can get on to the FEL. :)

This is it the day I bought it. I kinda' staged these to show my wife so some areas are purposely blocked. :) Some of you may know what I mean, "Honey, look what I just spent a bunch of money on!".

Looks pretty good in the rain with the FEL blocking the bodywork. The different colors in the pic really were different, not just the sun creating the effect. The hoses routed through the brakes are the reason the FEL isn't back on yet, I have to re-do the plumbing for the FEL.

Still, looking the these pics again, I can see why I was attracted to her.
