Well, it wasn't quite $300. I had enough left out of 3 C notes to buy me a pretty good burger.:):)

I posted this on the other tractor site and got mixed reviews. Just wondered what you guys thought. I took it to my dealer last week and picked it up this morning. I remembered what a pita my last new tractor was to get off the factory filters so I decided to take the easy route this time.

I picked up my tractor today and the breakdown is:

Labor 1.6 hours $ 126.40
Filters (Oil, Hydraulic, HST, Fuel, and Air $ 112.75
6 qts. Engine Oil $ 29.40
2 qts. Hydraulic Fluid $ 10.38
Sales tax $ 12.31

TOTAL $ 291.24

I told them when I left it I wanted them to check the hydraulic relief because I didn't feel like the fel was lifting what it should. They said they checked the hydraulic pressure and it was actually a little higher than factory specs so they did nothing to change it. I didn't ask if they charged me any labor for that. I checked the part numbers on Messick's website and the filters were to the penny exactly the same as on my bill. All and all I am pretty satisfied. I may do my future services but I'll stick with the overpriced kubota filters and fluids. There just ain't enough savings to take chances as far as I'm concerned.

next time you'll cut this in half.
That labor time is about right, time wise. You'll save that labor.
Those filters are overpriced at least 25%

I like doing my own maintenance on my tractor. If it saves me money, all the better.

I would suggest checking the front axle oil as well (assuming you have 4x4) which is not one of the 50 hour procedures. I checked mine at 200 hours and it was a quart low. At that point I drained it all out and added fresh oil.

Assuming your front axle is similar to my BX, it's real easy. I did mine at 50.

I do remember some guys not getting all of the refill capacity back in, but it may not fully drain if my memory serves....

I think mine was similar back then, and probably could use a drain/fill again....

Just wait until you have the 400 hr. service done, I just had it done a couple weeks ago on my L3560HSTC and it was $900 and change! They went over it top to bottom, changing ALL fluids and filters and lube all zerks.

I did a complete fluids and filters service on my M and the parts were $550.
It probably took me a few hours as I was in no hurry and those big tubs [19 gallons] of hydro fluid are a pain to move.
Worth every minute and dollar for the piece of mind.

We live in the same city but I take my tractor to a dealer in Waynesboro, MS because it's closer to where I keep my tractor. My 50 hour service was about $350. It bothered me not one bit because it would have cost me more in frustration if I did it myself. My time is so limited now. When I get to the camp I just want to get on and go.

$126.40 divided by 1.6 hrs = $79 hr. labor. Pretty fair price i'd say. Much less than around here.

Same here. The shop rate at my dealer is $100.00 per hour and $125.00 per hour if you know the owner. I do but I play dumb...

I know the filters are expensive but they cost exactly the same at my dealer that a sponsor on another site advertises on. (Messick Tractor)
Where can I go to save the 25% plus on Kubota filters??

I bought my M4900 from Chapman Tractor in Waynesboro several years ago. They were mighty nice folks. I had a BAD experience with the new owners, Circle C Tractor, when I got ready to buy my last one. I wouldn't buy a quart of spit from them.

I've got a little piece of land and a camp north of Waynesboro in Clarke County so I take my tractor back and forth.

Yep. that's the place. I have a camp in Vinegar Bend, AL. It's easier to haul it up the road then back to Mobile. I've never bought anything there. They've serviced my tractor twice and both were good experiences. I had a bad experience with the dealer in Baldwin county where I bought my tractor. I go out of my way not to go there.

I picked up some stuff at my local Kubota dealer Monday.

Labor - $78 / hour is pretty good
Filters - my Kubota oil filter was $12.10, Hydro Fluid filter was $14.44, Air Filter was $18.68. No fuel filter this time
Engine Oil - $30 for 6 quarts
Kubota Super UDT2 Hydraulic Fluid $22.60 per 4 quarts

You made out OK!

I'm close to my 400 hr and since I don't want to deal with the fuel system I'll drive it 12 miles to the local Kubota place for the 400 hr service

I am just now doing the 50 hours service on my 2018 MX4800 HST at 71 hours. From the Kubota dealer, $181 for a new engine oil filter, HST filter, hydraulic filter, and 9 qts of regular Kubota 10w30 oil. The engine oil filter is cheap, the other two filters are not. That, and the dealer giving me grief for not wanting 15w40 oil at the start of a NH winter.

So far, I've done the engine oil and filter. Pretty easy; only took 8 qts to refill since you can't get every last drop out. Still need to do the HST and trans filters; they look pretty easy to get two and I'm sure with a filter wrench they'll come off well enough.

I take a phillips screwdriver and poke a hole in my fliters and drain them out and then use the screwdriver as a level to break the filters loose. Much less messy.

I've switched from 15-40 to 5-40 Rotella T6 synthetic, did that a couple years ago and I run that all year in the Kubby's and everything else too. I run mine hard farming. do add Archoil Nano-borate friction conditioner to all my diesels.
