I have an M6800 (4x2 ROPS with FEL) and is not running at optimum speed.
I have replaced the needed fuel pump, checked the injectors, and am now to the conclusion that the front bank of the injector pump is not operating adequately. There are 6 bolts/nuts on the top to remove the pump from the assembly but it will not come out of the assembly. The dealer mentioned there are a few retainers in there and you must remove the access cover to do that. The problem is I am blind or there is no access cover. I cannot find any adequate procedure for removal, my WSM is too vague. Anybody have any info?

Should be a round plug on the side of the injection pump case.;)

Yep! the Bobcat dealer was nice enough to send me a scan of his WSM that shows detailed instructions and the removal of the plug.

I was not sure if the 'plug' was a plug and didnt want to damage it before I knew what it was.

I also think that the $20 spent on an electronic version of the WSM is not as good as the $75. You get what you pay for!

Thanks for the help!

Now that the weather has warmed a bit, I was able to find the time to remove the injector pump out of its housing. Disassembled the supply valves, checked for debris, and reassembled.

Before repairing the front two were non operational and was getting white smoke with little HP.

Now all seem to be delivering fuel but tractor starts and runs constant at 1500 RPM with no throttle control, faster or slower. The exhaust is substantially black. I have played with it a few times and seems to have lightened a bit but still no throttle control and heavy smoke.

Anybody have any ideas?

I would say you messed up something in the teardown / clean / rebuild.

If you have no throttle control you have something like springs or linkage on wrong or not at all.

You would be better off sending it to be rebuild than trying to tweak it yourself.

That is what I cannot understand. I was very certain to make sure the linkage went back in the same location.

I second Wolf's recommendation. Send it to Oregon Fuel Injection.

The problem is you have no way of knowing if it is generating the correct pressure(s) at this point nor what else is mucked up. They will test for that and will know what else is needed to correct the issue. Not cheap but well worth the money.

While you're at it, you might as well pull the injectors and send them in also. They will check the spray patterns and pop-off pressures to make sure they're operating correctly.

Just bite the bullet and get her done. It'll be money well spent in the long run.

Good luck,

Steve
