How's the best way to check hydraulics?

I see threads about loaders working slowly, but mine (LA680) is stuck with the bucket cupped down. All of the other functions work, so I am guessing I pinched a line, have a clogged connector, or something similar. Can anyone give me advice on how to check and diagnose which line or what the problem could be?

I would check the couplers for the loader. Sometimes one can get hit and come unhooked and the that function can't work.

Just follow the lines from the roll cylinders back to the Valve.
What were you doing when it did that, It is possible that you broke a cylinder internally.

Thanks for your help. I was moving a bunch of small trees and I was putting stress on the loader. That is what makes me think I bent or pinched a line or something. There are two lines that go into the cylinders that move the loader in that direction, and one direction obviously works fine. Just not the other? It doesn't even attempt to move that direction... which I assume would point to something in the control or a blockage in the line?

I understand that hydraulics operate by applying pressure, so the line nearest the rod would be the one that causes it to retract, correct?

I am thinking that it may not be a pinched line. There should be two lines to the cylinders. Depending on the direction of the piston travel, one line should be providing the pressure with the oil. The other line should be the oil return line. Change travel direction the lines would reverse the flow.

If there was a restriction shouldn't it be effecting the travel in both directions?

Just a guess here, but maybe a blown seal in the piston?

yea the likelihood that you pinched off a line, That you cant see would be way out there.
I'm betting on a blown seal, or something broken in one of the cylinders, or valve, and yes one cylinder being bad will make both not work, fluid will just pass threw the path of least resistance.

Is it possible that you pushed with the loader rolled out and bent the cylinders?

Pictures might help out.

Thanks everyone for the tips... I am still learning. The problem was that the quick connect under the tractor had come loose, but didn't drop down where I could see it was off. I really felt dumb when my dad spotted it though!

My other problem on my little tractor, which is a B2150 with a hydrastatic transmission... It has water in the hydraulic fluids. I found it because the filter froze and blew off taking some of the threads and leaving milky hydraulic fluid all over the ground underneath. I have the hydraulic filter assembly off and am looking for a replacement, but the bigger question is where did the water come from? Any pointers on how to find out where the water come from?

It's very possible that it wasn't water just the wrong hydraulic fluid.
Was the fluid a pasty yellow color? With you saying it was milky I think so.
Being that it's an HST you should only use UDT or SUDT when you replace it.
There is 2 filters, One is a pick-up filter #70 first pic, replacing it at the same time would be a good choice.
Second is a spin on filter #50, #60
Here is a place for the housing and filters.

There was a small amount of water in the tranny on myB7100 at the first fluid change, and it had been stored outdoors with a almost gone rubber boot on the shifter. Changed the fluid & boot, and no more H2O problems. And I also store it indoors now.
Come to think about it, there was a small amount of water in the steering box also.

In the second diagram, the part that holds the filter (#050) is what I need to replace. It actually broke off in the filter and while there are substantial threads left... it will not work with the same filter which is my plan. Do you have an actual part number for that part?

As to the water in the fluid issue... I say that because I believe the filter blew off because it was frozen and because all of the fluid looks like some kind of milky mocha java concoction. I will say that general hydraulic fluid (hardware store variety in 5 gallon bucket) is what was put in it last when my dad filled it up after blowing a few lines.

I do plan on draining all of the fluid and refilling it with what you guys told me to use.

Sorry the link I posted is the part you need, It just didn't make it a clickable link.
The Kubota Part # is 66301-37810 it's called a Cover Filter (it's the right part, just a weird name)
