I am looking for a new disc and drill. Does anyone have experience with these implements? They sure don’t give them away...

I can not help you with the drill. For the disc I would find a pull type with the two wheels to transport it. Most on this forum favor a 3 point disc. There are many problems with a 3 point disc and a few benefits. If you travel on the road with one they will make your front end very light and may cause a loss of control due to the loss of contact between the tires and the roadway. It is difficult to keep an even pressure on both sets of disc.

A drag disc is much easier to hitch up. They are much more forgiving when traveling down the road. They follow the ground and do a nicer job of cutting up the ground. They are harder to back up but only require the disc to be jacked up on the wheels.

You may be able to rent the drill from the county extension agent or a growers association in your area.

Pheasants forever might have a planter you can rent cheap or use free if you're doing food plots. On the disk you could get an older pull type if you can pull 8 feet or more. I haven't seen much available in smaller pull type disks if you want to go new except for 4 wheeler designs. The only drawback to the pull type is that you have 2 tires to maintain and if you can't back a trailer.

When I need to drill forage seed, I borrow the planter from the co-op. I buy my seed from them and the give me a cut rate on the drill. Far as discs go, you can shorten a big one by removing disc plates from the ends... If you lack the power to pull it.
