When I adjusted the valves the travel on all of the rocker arms were uniform and looked good to me anyway.

It runs like a sewing machine other than under heavy load. Crisp throttle response and no erratic rpm's that you would associate with governor. We will see what the compression test results are and rule that out next.

Exactly my thinking, if it was starving for fuel there wouldn't be any black smoke. I am wondering if the governor isn't working properly and when under heavy load the fuel is loading up in the cylinders.

So still searching for answers on this machine. I checked the valves and adjusted a few with none of them more than .001 off and they were on the tight side. Pulled injectors and pump and sent them off to get checked and fixed if needed.They just got back with no issues noted other than normal...

Anyone know what the valve clearance is?
