80 series bx can get leaks on the coupler base. Try wiping it off, then snug up the lines to the coupler. Don't overtighten, maybe like 1/4 turn and see what happens.

The arms drop by gravity. Set the height to 0 and if they don't drop just pull down a bit or use your foot. Also make sure the dial which controls the "drop speed" isn't all the way closed. Finally, you don't have anything blocking the 3 point hitch arms, right?

Yes. By default I think it comes with 1 adjustable. Because I got the grass catcher, they throw in another adjustable link. It comes in handy. Lower the arms to get as close as you can, then just use the turnbuckles on the link to line it up exactly. Helps when ground is uneven as well.

I haven't used a flail mower but I looked at some pictures. Seems most have wheels or skids and would float as you suggest. However what about rotary mower aka brush hog? It has a tail wheel but still relies on the 3 point to set its cutting height. I don't think I'd enjoy brush hogging...
