    Woodstock in 1973

No showers, hot, muggy, no bathrooms...I too was not the cleanest of Americans. And yes, the smells were awful. But then I was in the jungle in Vietnam. Didn't hear about Woodstock for many months.

    Hernia mesh

Surgery w/mesh installed for an inguinal hernia 5 years ago. Doctor did tell me before surgery that there used to be problems with the mesh being used years ago but those largely went away the last few years with the new type of mesh they are using. I've had no problems whatsoever since the...

    fuel costs..

Just filled my truck in Elko, Nevada...$4.95 a gallon for 87 octane. The drop in fuel prices I keep hearing about haven't happened around here.

Wow! Haven't seen that for years. Here's a shot I took of our local fire department doing the same thing away back in 1974...check out the vehicles in the background!

Gun haters have a new problem

I call BS on that. What about the members of our government who support antifa? Or these two wonderful organizations?

    Roundabouts

Familiarity...and sobriety. Far from the nearest big city in rural Nevada, two major highways intersect. For as long as I can remember, there was a stop sign and blinking red stop light to mark the intersection. All sides had to stop. Not long ago the state had the brilliant idea to replace...

    Road tax and electric vehicles

In Nevada we've had to report vehicle odometer readings for the past couple years. Cannot renew vehicle registration without reporting your odometer reading. Getting us ready for when they start adding surcharges for vehicle miles driven.

    Cabelas

Before BPS took over I bought nearly all my clothes and camping supplies and other items at Cabelas - but only via catalog/on line because it is nearly 200 miles to the nearest store. Haven't bought one item since BPS took over.

Most terrifying moment on a tractor in years

I wish! Here's the latest data for Reno, Nevada. Don't understand why there is such a difference between states!

Most terrifying moment on a tractor in years

Drove across the western half of Wyoming on I-80 yesterday. Anyone who has driven that road knows that towns/exits are few and far between and the altitude runs 6500 - 7500 feet. Traffic moves around 85 mph (speed limit is 80). I passed 3 Teslas...each was doing only about 50 mph, no doubt to...

    Something a little more lighthearted

Maybe we need to keep kids/grandkids locked up in a padded room to keep them from harm...for sure we shouldn't be allowing them to ride in cars..................

    Something a little more lighthearted

I think it is a wonderful way to bond with your kids/grandkids, hauling them around when they are tiny, on a tractor. My dad tells me I loved it when I was a toddler...and I guess I've never gotten over that love of tractors ever since. My daughter is now in her mid-30s and still talks about...

Most people think Nevada is a vast wasteland other than Reno or Las Vegas. I discovered "the rest" of Nevada 50+ years ago, moved here and can't be happier. Above view is looking east from the house. This one is looking west. (Hope I don't get banned for putting a green tractor on an...

Most terrifying moment on a tractor in years

I saw this coming. So early this year I filled both tractors to the brim, then completely filled the bulk diesel tank. Hopefully, I won't have to buy more diesel till next year...and hopefully, by then the price will have dropped some.

    Electric

Exactly! There are multiple geothermal and solar generating plants across Nevada. Most of the power from these plants goes straight to California because Californians would rather not look at power generating plants in their back yard. This geothermal plant not far from me has been in...

Around here they are one big happy family once hunting season is over...this shot was taken just after sunset on Christmas Day 2017. I can see at least 3 nice racks in this group; the rest are does.

Glyphosate may not be so safe after all :(

Stupid laws like that put Nevada at the top of the list for pollutants. Why? Because of the huge mines in northern Nevada. The way the federal law is written, every bucket of dirt that is moved at a mine site has to be reported as a "hazardous release", even if it is just topsoil. I worked...
