No room for an angle grinder?

When you first got the tractor and changed the hydraulic fluid, what did the old fluid look like? Any signs of water contamination? If so, you need to find out how water was getting into the system and give it a good flushing to get as much of the old crud out as possible.

Don't know about Jamaica, but a pipe nipple can be found in most hardware stores; like home depot, you don't need an 8" one, but you get the idea. Then you will need a coupler to go from 1/8" to whatever size your pressure gauge is.

Paraffin wax works as well. I have eaten lots of paraffin opening a new jar of jam :). However, it is not useful for things that require pressure canning.

If you take it off, is it weldable from the other side? Or is it a tube? Hard to tell from the picture.

I do something similar using the shop paper towel. Take the dipstick and place the tip on the towel and then lay the dipstick on the towel. Look for where the oil is absorbed by the towel to get your level.

I left the diesel that I flushed with to sit for a few days, then I siphoned the clear diesel off. This crud is what I was left with! I'm not sure what it is, but it goes through a 10micron filter like it wasn't there. I will have to see what comes out when I change out the cheap hydraulic...

Personally, I would put the new filter on the same side of the pump that the stock filter is on. Some pumps do not do well if you restrict the flow somewhere it is not expecting.
