    Flushing out fuel tank

Yeah, Im too old and cantankerous to work on the ground. If I had to crawl around on the concrete, I’d be done for the day. I’m thinking I was filing the fuel one day, had 5 things going at once, as usual, put the cap back on, put the funnel and gas tank up, probably something else. Didn’t...

    Flushing out fuel tank

Yes, I use a screened funnel when filling the fuel, and I wipe and dust the area throughly before removing the fuel cap. I even wipe off my fuel cans before filling. I had a sick feeling in my stomach last year when I discovered the fuel cap at my feet. Crud, sticks and pine needles all over...

    Flushing out fuel tank

Yes, I did remove the tank, removed the sending unit and petcock, flushed it out multiple times. Even fished a clean piece of cloth to check for more particles.

    Trench digger

I used a root cutter with a widening “V” on my backhoe, ( in place of the bucket) with a piece of PVC conduit and a 90 sweeper on the bottom, facing rear. My buddy walked along, feeding buried cable down the conduit, and it really went quick installing a 400’ electrical cable out to my front...

    Flushing out fuel tank

With the rear tires off, and the tractor on the lift, it’s a bit easier to operate on basically unbolting everything on the rear. All told about an 8 hour job from start to finish, although, now I could do it in 5. But I don’t ever wish to do it again. With the tank out, and the petcock removed...

    Flushing out fuel tank

As I tend to over maintain my Kubota BX, I was wondering if I had a batch of bad fuel when at idle I was noticing some surging. Time to get it in the air and change the fuel filters. With a clean container, to see if there may be water in my fuel, I changed the rear filter first, and noticed...

does anyone grease the rotator worm or their snowblower?

I use white lithium grease on the wide tooth gears, attempting to push it in, but an aerosol of chain lube gets under it well.

Kubota Snow Blower - Best way to remove oily grime & rust maintenance

And as chains go, I picked up a 10’ roll of chain and 5 master links for about the same as one chain cut to the correct length. It’s easy to cut a link to length.

    Montana

I cannot find the pics I took of the Native Indian encampments locations. There were very old B&W pics of Native ( large cities) expansive villages. I took modern pics from the same locations, of what the areas look like today. Not much has changed, except no teepees. Most of the land is BLM...

If you ever have time, you can follow the trails of the Calvary for 1 1/2 years leading up to Custers bungling last stand. There were many skirmishes and small battles leading up to the biggie. We covered a hundred miles of the river range.

Kubota Snow Blower - Best way to remove oily grime & rust maintenance

I wash my blower before it comes off, wiping heavy grease off with rags first. then lube all the zirc fittings, chain lube the chain. My local tractor supply house sells Kubota orange, by the quart, gallon and aerosol. Once the impeller area is clean and dry, the aerosol does a fantastic job of...

    Post hole auger

I don’t use my PHD very often, but it is a god send when I do. I’ve used mine on two big fencing projects, but it sure is nice to poke holes in the ground for planting trees! I’ve planted many rows of small trees, just go down 18” to install 1 gallon pots or 24” for bare root trees. Planted well...

    Montana

I have literally mapped roads and terrain, all through out the West. Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah mostly. So I have driven thru and on every road, trail and highway in large blocks of areas in these states. N Idaho is where we landed, with reason. I truly enjoyed seeing all the...

    Hydraulic oil/engine oil change Confirmation

Add to that clean or replace your air filter element much more often than you change your oil. I keep two on hand, swap them out every 25 hours, then clean and box up the old one for the next change out.

I was going to pick up the standard size lift, but they were having a sale on the larger, heavier model. It will lift a 2.5 ton dually. $2K well worth the money to save my knees and back

    Spring cleaning

My orange clothing items say Shihl, but that’s another story. I was a body repair tech ( Ford) and heavy vehicle tech( telecom) all my working life, and I had my custom body shop on the side. I’ve seen first hand the benefits of clean undercarriages, and well lubed machines. Plus it’s...

    Box blade or rear blade?

When it’s only 4” or so, I just use the rear blade at a 45 angle and push it off the sides in the drainage. The angle is great for 1400’ long driveways, a loader or box blade would be full too fast. The best is a front blower and rear angle blade. Blow off most of it ( way off the road)...
