Transfer Switch for Generator Power in Outages

Very, very dangerous. All it takes is one little mistake at 2am when the power goes out, and you forget to trip the main breaker. If the fault is at the feed point to your house (fuse/breaker on pole), you risk electrocuting the utility worker who shows up the next day. You risk losing...

Transfer Switch for Generator Power in Outages

Consult an electrician first. There are two types of transfer panels, one that switches the neutral, the other does not. Switching neutral is usually for portable generators, which usually have neutral bonded to ground internally (Which is usually the frame). The other transfer switch is for...

    Electric Surge Protectors.

I have a HD whole house surge protector in my main panel. I got a lightning hit (I believe it was on solar panel grounding wire) in 2017 and everything that was plugged into AC outlets survived. What did not was anything that was wired by Ethernet cables. Seems the EMP got into that wiring and...

Can someone help with what to fix

Not sure, but it might suggest that some regeneration is due or previous regeneration has failed (or got interrupted)? Don't ignore it!

Back dragging with a front snowblower ?!

Nope, that is why I have a 3pt blade on the back of the BX25. Blower in front, blade for scraping or back blading areas like concrete landings. Also, I have no qualms using the blade at the road edge, pushing anything loose back towards the ditch.

BX2822 fan shear bolt breaks repeatedly under load

Have you made sure the augers are "alternating", not feeding at the same time? If both augers push snow into the fan at the same time, it may "overload" the fan. If there is any loose play on the fan, that hard push of snow may move something so there is some contact somewhere. When changing...

Anybody know this tractor sales girl?

My first thought was "where the rubber meets the road". But then, I though of the phrase "Road to Nirvana". Sigh...

A little bit of photoshop for the word "mask". Everything else on that line is in capital letters. Whoever photoshoped it, missed that point.... Regardless, I think they would get a lot of support....

Chute rotation on front mount blower.

This is normal for my BX25 blower as well. The rotate right has to go to the second indent to the right with the lever to operate. Just going to the first, nothing happens. It is all related to the "quick dump" function of the loader...

    Daily Chuckle

Reminds me of my then girlfriend's 17 y/o sister sitting on the lawn with me in her short white shorts and tank top. All I can think of was the song "Paradise by the dashboard light" by meatloaf. No further details... Sigh....

    Complete rewire?

There are different solutions, depending on how much wire you have left that is not exposed (bare). Easiest may be heat-shrink butt splice connectors with some dielectric grease to ensure water stays out. Other splicing can work, if you use heat shrink tubing that has embedded hot glue inside to...

    New Laptop Cost

AndyM, one can still upgrade from Win7 to Win10. The PC I'm using right now was built in 2009, with Vista and a free upgrade to Win7. Search the Internet for upgrading to Win10, the ISO (distributions) are still available and online. For anyone interested, look for a utility to download ISO...

    Geek Squad scam

It's not even "Geek Squad", they call themselves "Geeki Squadl". I guess that avoids some "liability" of copyright by using a different name. Red flags for sure it is a scam. The so called toll free number does not exist in Internet searches, so it is a front of some sort.

Seal kit install for leaky front snowblower hitch cylinder

I took mine (BX25 front hitch cylinder) to a hydraulic shop, had it done for about $150 CAD a couple of years ago (they supplied the seals). It was not worth the aggravation trying to fix it myself, as I never did one before anyway, and don't have the right tools for it. Your prices may vary...

Not a tractor but I found it in the barn

Pawnee is correct. Even if your house has a fire caused by something else, the insurance will void your coverage because you did not "disclose" everything. I put in a pellet stove in my detached garage/workshop/studio. Before firing it up, I called my insurance to inform them, along with the...

Not a tractor but I found it in the barn

I had one of those stoves back in the 70's, working in the "bush" and it was used to heat our tent. It worked ok, but they were a dime a dozen in those days... Lots of creosote dripped from the pipes....

    Loaders' first job !

A possible danger strapping a 4x4 that way, under the bucket. If, for some reason, the bucket is high enough and you run into something with the 4x4, it might poke right back through your front grill, depending if you have a steel grill guard or not. Just an idea to think about. There are...
