    2024 Summer Olympics

I enjoy watching the competition at the Olympics, but I hate the NBC coverage. They've ruined most of it for me, but the lesser-watched events are still good without all the stories about whatever obstacles athlete X has overcome. As far as the boxer in question, that's a tricky one as it's...

pole barn design and construction advice?

This specific county requires structural engineering, even if it's designed straight out of the code book. A home designer is fine, but it'll still need to be reviewed/approved by an engineer. I prefer anything I design or build to use a structural engineer anyway as it takes most of the...

pole barn design and construction advice?

Morton has a good reputation, but they're expensive nowadays. A basic steel building is the cheapest per square foot, but that doesn't achieve the look you're going for. For a good look, I'd probably err towards a conventional wood structure and use this siding on the exterior...

    Setting height on 60" mmm

There are lock nuts above the springs that you can tighten/loosen to adjust the free play in the self-balancer.

    Kubota mowing deck ??

I've started using a BX for mowing in the past few months, using the 60" deck. The cut quality is better than my Husqvarna riding mower it replaced, and less likely to scalp any areas (I have lots of hills, knolls, dips, etc). I can't compare to a ZT as I don't have one, but you can't tell the...

Computer Geeks - - Home Computer Anti-virus, security, etc.

Same- using free AVAST for many years on all the home computers and work computers with no issues. They're a little tricky during updates, trying to get you to install Chrome or the paid versions, so just read what the screens say before getting all clicky-clicky.

    Residence HVAC guys. Need help.

I've had a replacement capacitor that was defective. The replacement's replacement fixed things back up with no issues in the years since. Either way, after only two years, aren't you still under warranty?

    Measuring Chart

Ahh, makes sense, but also makes it confusing. There's probably a better way of denoting it, but now that I see it, I can work with it.

    Measuring Chart

I didn't dive in deeply, but the tsp to 1/3C were wrong, as were the tsp to 2/3C. Might be more, but those jumped out at me.

    Daily Chuckle

Reminds me of my sister's wedding. The catered food was so bad, that a number of us discovered the kid's table and found the nuggets and mac and cheese to be surprisingly good. Seriously, the regular food was in the top three for the worst I've ever tried. The open bar wasn't even enough to...

    Spotted Lantern Fly

I'm in almost the exact same area as you and remember a recent news story on them saying to report them, take a picture for proof if needed for your report and then kill them if we see them. We've seen one, and did just that. We have black walnuts and red maples, but haven't seen anything...

    Dodge Fans....No V8s

Frankly, I have no issues with an inline-6 in principle as there have been a lot of incredible ones over the years. Smooth with good torque. I'm not a fan of downsizing combined with forced induction though, as I'm firmly in the "there's no replacement for displacement" camp.

    Propane question?

I've seen so many websites in the last year posting crap articles like this, and many others. I suspect they're using AI to write stuff, based on what's found on the internet. I learned a long time ago to not believe most of what I read on the internet, but AI doesn't understand that...

Do anything when you were young that amazes you now?

Oh man, that reminds me... My sister and I would stand on opposite sides of our trailer, next to the Jarts ring and blindly throw Jarts over the trailer trying to hit the ring on the other side without hitting the sibling. You've gotta have sharp eyesight and quick reflexes to get out of the...

Do anything when you were young that amazes you now?

Decades ago, I got a wild hair to see how far south I could drive on one tank of gas. Made it over 550 miles before I was on fumes in Daytona Beach, averaging over 100mph for the trip. Filled up, grabbed some food and headed back at a more sane pace. Most of my amazing, bad ideas involved...

    Any Bathroom Designers Out There?

Keep in mind ADA only requires a 32" opening for bathrooms. A 36" hinged door is usually used as the 32" requirement factors in the door jutting out into the opening when opened 90-degrees. A 32" pocket door or barn door will meet the requirements as there's no door impeding the clear opening.
