hydraulic fluid level; sight glass ... beginner error

The sight glass is an "improvement" from the older level plugs, although you know right where you stand with the level plugs, if it's too full it will drain itself, lol.

LAYING 1" POLY PIPE WITH A SUBSOILER

I've been doing more renting for my projects instead if buying. Have a really good rental yard not terribly far from my place, that can get about anything if you give them advanced notice. I'd rent a trench machine too.

Do you keep area just for kids?

Well, I don't have a lot of land, not near as much as I grew up on, but it's the kids "jungle". They have their fort/swing set down in the lower yard run of the rest of the place. Can't say there is a designated kid zone. I do hope when my one neighbors dies I can afford to buy the 14 acres of...

Solar power for my new home

Part of the thinking you need to do has to do with typical inflation, electric averages between 3 and 5% per year.(give or take) somewhere I have a break even sheet for our system. We basically break even at the 10 year mark. The warranty for the panels is 25 year and 20 year for the modules and...

Solar power for my new home

You have a semi valid point. Most houses never use close to their service rating. I can actually run everything save the water heater on 26 amps. Thats a fridge and deep freeze, deep well pump, 3 window ac units, whatever lights we want, and the TV. No your not welding or anything like that, but...

Thoughts or advice on Betsco Flail Mower 42 inch

If you ever get into road bank mowing, or boom mowers a flail mower is considered a finish mower. They don't do very well with rocks, branches ect. Even with the hammers they have a pretty high upkeep if your going to hit rocks and larger heavier objects with them. It was one of the things I...

Solar power for my new home

I have a 9.88kw system. With tax credits deducted it cost just under $30k. It's a bit over sized for our needs. Solar edge inverter, and panel modules and silfab panels. Battery back up for an 8hr load would have been close to $40k extra. Not worth it. I loose power a bit more then most and my...

    Rewiring flatbed trailer

Depends on the lights your using. If there's a ground wire to hook up, then I'd hook it up. Never was a fan of the lights that use frame ground through a bolt/screw hole. My deck over had the latter and it's a constant pain, my other trailer didn't have much for lights on it, and the lights...

    Steering pouring out fluid

I prefer paper copies my self, but I often photo copy the page(s) I need at the moment. Typically ebay or messicks for sourcing them.

    New Passenger

No harm in having functional, well maintained, and good looking equipment.

    Suicide Knob

I have them on all my tractors, power steering or not. The worst does happen to be dad's l245dt. It will rip the know right out of your hand if your not paying attention. The smaller garden tractors don't bother so much. Now I like the old aluminum ones the best, but have one similar to the op...

    Suicide Knob

That's because your tractor has a power steering gear box like a car. Most bigger tractors/newer tractors have full hydro steering, ie an orbital valve and hydraulic cylinder. They don't always repeat back to the same spot like a power gear box does.

Yet another wheel and tire thread…..

Seems kubota favors a little lead foe the front to begin with too. Sage advice.

Yet another wheel and tire thread…..

Don't know your location, buy miller tire had very good prices when I got tires for my B. The only downside is I got Carlisle for the rear and had to get galaxy for the front due to not being able to get the right size in Carlisle brand. More or less same tread pattern so it didn't really...

    New property - SWPA

I think it mainly comes down to what you expect to do, besides mow grass. A loader is essential imo, how much lift capacity do you need? Are you planning on using ground engaging equipment? How big of towed/pto powered equipment do you expect to use? It all plays a factor. There were several...

ID this tiller; and what's it worth?

If that was a mile down the road from me, it would have been coming home so long as it checked out. Haven't seen a decent 4-5 foot Tiller (that's close) for much under $1k.

    New property - SWPA

Love r14 style tires. Not terrible on the yard, good enough to pull my single bottom plow and not traction issues in the typical mud.

    Winter Storm

We worked on a lot of containerized gensets for sunbelt rentals. The best one that comes to mind was 2, 1mw units that followed some sort of tour around the country. 1 was used as a main and the other was used as a backup for power. Both were grossly oversized for the application. Neither ran...

    Back to HST problum

This is why I suggested in my previous post the hst needs tested. There is a procedure but I don't know it with this model of tractor. I do like the case drain being overwhelmed idea. At any rate it's time for a functional test of the hst and possibly a tear down. Oh there's a suction screen and...

    Back to HST problum

Ita perfectly normal to have an engine bog down when you flatten the hst, pedal when in hi or medium gear. Especially when doing ground engaging work with a 30 hp tractor. Spinning a mower without cutting is also a worthless test of pto or engine power. The hardest part it starting the mower...
