    First tractor help

Can't speak to the OPs situation, but when I bought, I went up a size bigger than I thought I would need (to L3301), and have not regretted it at all. In fact I am certain I WOULD have regretted NOT doing it.

    Field cultivating and drip irrigation

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this, and/or suggestions. I have a cultivator very much like this: I use it during the early part of the season to clear weeds between rows (obviously) - but next year I'm considering going with some form of drip irrigation system instead of...

    40 ft Span Bridge

I'll definitely do that, but when I'm closer to actually doing something about it. Trying to recover from a rather expensive year of projects right now, and it's not quite urgent, just concerning right now. The responses here are giving me an idea of a possible worst-case, so I know what to plan...

    2nd round?

There's plenty of zombies out there already, so we're half way there. Food Lion - modest stock of TP today, not all generic. Specifically was looking for paper towels but nothing but FL brand to be had, and only a few left on that. Almost everything else I saw seemed stocked at normal levels.

    40 ft Span Bridge

Some interesting suggestions here. I'm looking at trying to fix a piece of my road that's eroding, getting worse every year. If I can't figure out a good way to repair the erosion and prevent more in the future, I may have to look at putting in a bridge. Anyone whose done it care to help me...

    SSQA backhoe attachment

I got my backhoe rolled in to the original purchase - given the price, I can understand why you don't want to buy one outright. But as for "There are some things I'd like to have a backoe for, but not enough to justify the cost at this point." - I found all sorts of uses that I never anticipated...

Lug wrench for L2501 rear tires (and front)

You got some good tips above, try that first - definitely a breaker bar. I actually had some nuts on so tight that I ruined a breaker bar, so if you have something that stuck on, what helped me was heating the nut with a butane torch - be careful to keep the heat focused on the nut - it will...

    Hitch hitting hydraulic lines

It's what it came with from the factory, and anything shorter would not hold the hitch hardware. Seems like a bit of a design flaw to me. The recommendation for the 45 fitting seems like it might help, I'll give that a try.

    L5460 no auto Regenerate

For my 3301 I have to get around 2700 or so for regen. Manual doesn't specify any specific rpm, just says to raise it until the light stops flashing.

    Paid off!

When I was first looking, I had no plan to finance, but I had recently moved onto land with a long road that needed maintaining, and the maintenance it needed suddenly became a lot more urgent. It just made more sense to finance than to blow $5000 on repairs that I would STILL have to maintain...

Gas station etiquette. Pull through at the island.

Easy to find around me. Nearest is less than 5 miles (it's the closest gas station period), two more within 10 miles that I know of, and I'm pretty sure there's others nearby that I don't know about. Guess there's more demand in my area..

    2nd round?

I have a pretty good supply of ammo for most things, but I bought a revolver right around the start of this mess (nothing related to happenings, just wanted one) and discovered that .38 and .357 are quite hard to find. I also, right at the same time, decided to get into reloading and got all the...

    Hitch hitting hydraulic lines

The hitch on my 3301 drops right onto the hydraulic hose when the backhoe is attached. Also, following my dealer's suggestion, I plug the hose in to form a "loop" when it's disconnected, which leads to that hose also being hit. I'm concerned about wearing the hose through with this setup...

Yes Hydraulic fluid can go bad

What is "vented"? To me that would suggest that the hydraulic system isn't totally sealed, but I'm not sure how that makes sense. How would hydraulic fluid get contaminated in a sealed system?

    Day One List

Agree with all about PTO safety. I have been fortunate to not have had to respond to such an incident, but I've seen pictures. It never ends well.

Bad Site Upgrade - Forum Reset to 11/4 State

Going to restate what it appears you are saying: * Log on to OTT * Click "New Posts" in the top menu bar * Go to the bottom of the page and click "Next" or "2" -> Page 2 does not load Is that correct? I just tried those steps (Firefox on mac) and it's working fine. Have you tried a different...

    Day One List

For your initial driving practice, stay far away from anything of value (cars, buildings, etc.) until you learn how the FEL and rear attachments work. They swing OUT when you turn, and unless you've driven something that does that, it will catch you off guard. I nearly took out my well because...
