First Power Outage with new Generator Setup

You could likely leave your water heater on. Though it has two heating elements (probably 4500 watts each) only one will be running at a time. If the heater is well insulated (heater blanket or insulation) is shouldn't run very often anyway. Also, I believe you can utilize the L5-30 amp...

    Inner tube or no

Yes, but depending on WHY the tire/wheel is leaking.....might be better to just fix it. With a tube, IF you have a puncture....you'll need to remove the tube to repair it.

    Cleaning Underside of Mower???

This what I do as well. Both my Zero Turn and Finish mower. I just use a garden hose and sprayer head to clean the deck BEFORE it all has time to dry. Maybe a five minute process at most. I like for my equipment to be ready to use the next time I need it. Not have to work on it before I can...

    Electrical question......

I hear ya. Clearly there is a 'high end' to electrical safety and upgrades....based on one's usage and needs. I mean how did you and I ever live to the ripe old ages we are without all these safety features? Common sense is how. Don't do this: On the other hand, don't 'make' pitfalls...

    Mower Chute Question

I leave the chute on my Zero Turn UP most of the time but am able to flip it down when I deem necessary. I would not remove it entirely. What would be the logic in that? You remove the 'option' to have it up or down (as needed). Since you are able to raise yours (as I am able to do with mine)...

    Propane question?

^^^^^ Sadly this is true in some cases. Licensed for the most part only means the person was able to pass certain 'tests'. It doesn't speak to their competency overall, their ability/willingness to do a job well, their honesty or a host of other things. We would hope any given field would...

    Electrical question......

Or they may not. But soliciting opinions on the internet from admittedly non-professionals is less likely to provide you the safe solution you seek (if one is to be had). I applaud you for recognizing the need to wire the system correctly and your concerns for safety. A good electrician...

    Electrical question......

This would help prevent creating a second ground (ground loop), but I think you still need to verify whether you have a floating neutral (best for your situation) or a bonded neutral. I would also have an qualified electrician assess your set up. If you have a bonded neutral gen-set, in some...

    Electrical question......

^^^^^^ (y) Well stated and I agree on every point. I was thinking that most/all of the open frame generators (of the OP's manufacturer) were a Floating Neutral not Bonded...but this needs to be established. And VERY important to have only one ground point.

Do anything when you were young that amazes you now?

That same year (1968) at age 14 I walked across the TOP of this old condemned 'Bow Bridge' over the Verdigris River in Independence, Kansas on a dare. Stopped one time at the apex to catch my balance then went on to the other side. Probably not the smartest thing I ever did in my life.

    Grease guns that don't leak?

I have four grease guns (all good quality units) and ALL of them leak when the temperature in the shop gets really high. Well sometimes I have JD Cornhead grease in one....and it doesn't leak.

We could actually....but maybe not in good conscience.

Straight Blades on 60" MMM ??

I think by 'Straight Blade' the OP mean't they do not have an "Off-Set" to them. The OEM blades on my Land Pride Finish Mower have a similar 'Off-Set' of about 3/4". Probably there to help protect the bolt. I also use a flat mulching blade and just lower the deck a bit to compensate for...

    L2250 tires help

For an R1 type tire (rolling circumference) the specs I provided are correct and should work fine on your tractor. Has worked fine on mine for 28 yrs. It has been discussed before. https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/threads/l2350dt-wheels-and-tires.13928/

    L2250 tires help

Its the correct size for the front differential gear ratio which needs to closely match the rear (if in 4WD). No, no problems. Factory spec for MY tractor . IF your L2250 is not 4WD...then choose whatever you like.

    What kind of snake?

^^^^^ Thanks for letting it go on its way. (y) DeKay's Brown (the more common name) and Northern Brown (less commonly called) are the same snake (species). Not unlike one person calling a Cottonmouth a Water Moccasin (same snake)....but the name called might be more prevalent depending on...

    What kind of snake?

My best 'guess', not being real familiar with all the snakes in Virginia....is that the snake in question is possibly the gray version of a DeKay's Brown Snake. Based on size and pattern. Harmless of course. Neat pic. Thanks for sharing.

    What kind of snake?

Its true that the three (indigenous) Pit Vipers in the U.S. have prominently triangular heads, but I would caution against using that as a singular diagnostic tool for identifying venomous snakes. Rattlesnakes, Copperheads and Cottonmouth (the three pit vipers) do certainly have a triangular...

Land Pride adjustments for my pasture

Since you are not yet living on the property you are pretty much relegated to mowing every few weeks....which by default means a rotary cutter or flail mower. I have areas on my property where I like to maintain the pastures. Particularly behind the house where we don't run any livestock...
