I agree 100%. An extra pass or two is nothing- a tiller that won't work well on the tractor is a problem. Good choice on the 48"- I don't think you will be disappointed.

Not addressed yet- the turf tire question. Mine does fine with turf tires. You aren't pulling a plow- you are controlling the speed of the tilling. You will want to turfs for mowing, so I would stay with those.
