No seat switch on the BX22. That was a later change on the BX series of tractors.

My guess is that you didn't get the check valve back in properly, and that it built up a pressure that was higher than the oil filter could handle. Either that, or you just got a defective oil filter. Pressure relief valves can be a major problem if you don't get them back in properly.
