After one week with the LX2610

Float vents the head to the rod on the boom cylinders, i.e. no pressure from the pump and no bleed to tank. That lets the boom 'float' as need be. Actually, it just eliminates any up or down force on the boom. Kubota uses the term float loosely. The curling (bucket) cylinder is still fully...

    PTO Engine Cutoff Switch

You are correct, they should be bullet proof, and that they are there to protect companies from product liability cases generated by newcomers or more sadly, candidates for the Darwin Award. But they should also be fail-safe. How bullet proof can you make something? I probably have less...

    Box blade as a dozer

Gotta agree with North Idaho Wolfman. Even a light duty BB is great for pushing loose dirt, and due to the nature of having two curled blades mounted back to back, it's pretty darned rigid. You're probably going to either stall the tractor or make it spin if you push too much. If you're going...

    Reverse Alarm for LX2610 / B2650

I agree that there should be a way, and in fact, they're required on nearly all construction/industrial sites on all vehicles. I've seen (heard) plenty backhoes with HST that certainly had them. Do you have HST or manual transmission? The HST might be the easiest to mount a switch on, but...

    PTO Engine Cutoff Switch

LX models have a nifty bypass button, and you don't have to move the seat. The only time I flip my seat up is when I'm covering it up with a tarp. Pull into position, set the brake, shift to N, push the button and hold for 10 seconds, engage PTO as desired. You can stop and start the PTO at...

New backhoe bucket for the BX25D

Here's what I'm referring to ..... Looks like the blade on this one can be flipped over for smooth edge, but it might just be toothed on both edges. Dunno.

New backhoe bucket for the BX25D

I'm kinda eyeballing that nifty looking claw thing (Talon, I think it's called?) on BXpanded. Most of what I want to do for digging is going to be stump removal. Between that "Talon", a thumb, and a 12" bucket, I should get pretty good at gettin' used-to-be-trees outta my way. Grinding is OK...

    That wasnt' the exaggeration.

    lower bonnet installation

The new LX models have a yellow plastic dip-stick in the back near the vent. Very hard to see the level on that, too. But, I'm still under warranty (and will be for a while to come) so won't dare give Kubota any excuse to void it on me. After it's no longer warrantied, I'll watch a little...

New backhoe bucket for the BX25D

Having teeth instead of a cutting edge on the bucket will break up the soil some as you pull it out, and crumbling soil won't stick nearly as bad as solid masses like you'll get with that straight edge. Same reason that the Piranha bar improves the front bucket. Might try to just notch what...

    SSQA mod

Seat Switch is required by Outdoor Power Equipment Safety standards that cover a LOT of countries. Don't have a choice, from the smallest garden tractor to ANY tractor than can be fallen off of or turned over. That standard pretty much includes ALL tractors and a lot of other equipment too...

OEM Kubota 3rd Function Kit Install

Bummer on the broken bolt. Paint in the threads in the boom before you tightened them? Hopefully there's enough of it left to use a Dremel and cut-off and you won't have to work a die handle in the confinement of that boom. Even if you hadn't mangled the ends of the bolts with pliers, chances...

    Something just crossed my mind

With the hydrostatic transmission, this is REAL easy. Simply rock the treadle back and forth a little, and the Dif-Lock will engage, assuming you put your left heel on the pedal. I do it all the time to avoid digging holes by spinning the back tires. You can let go of it while moving, and it...

    60" vs 54" bucket for B2601?

Was going to say it looked like a very optimistic stump bucket.

    Tire Heights Adds/Reduction R1 vs R3/Turf vs R14

If you get the same R14's that I got, no, gonna be a lot more than 84 with the cab. Probably closer to 90. I've got the SU, and since it doesn't have the mid PTO, can run bigger/fatter tires. These are a LOT taller than the R4's or R1's. Dunno bout the turfs. I think you need a bigger door.

    Losing interest in R14 tires...

Even in our slick clay, the R14's on my LX2610 will stall the tractor in low range with HST, especially if I'm pushing with the FEL. The fronts typically come off the ground, but the backs giterdun. They've got some serious grip, but don't dig holes real fast. If I do manage to spin them, the...

    First Maintenance

Yeah, already went with the axiom of buying by the case. First purchase. Beat the hell out of it yesterday for a while moving some logs and doing a little scraping for a neighbor. Clocked about 3 hours on it. He insisted on paying me, so I got paid to have fun. Fuel and lube seems like a...

    buying decison B vs. LX

Very quickly, the B's are gonna get rare as hen's teeth. Dealers are getting/extending some nice purchase options on the LX, since that's the newest model. Sitting side by side, the LX is a bit larger/beefier. It's got a weight advantage, especially in the SU version with larger tires and...
