Do they really charge that much?

I did the next service myself. I wanted to be sure the first one was done right, it mattered for warranty. The manual is reasonably clear though, so I did the next one myself, and I'm nearly due for 400 hours now. Actually the biggest problem is going to be having a tub big enough to drain the...

Do they really charge that much?

The reason I got the dealer to do my first service was exactly so I'd know it was done right. Doing it myself is pretty much a guarantee it hasn't been done right!!

belt tension gauge for mower deck?

I've always done belt tension by pushing on it and going "that feels right". A good push should give less than an inch of deflection in my mind, it should feel pretty firm. Tighter is probably better than looser. Maybe if I had a gauge I'd do it differently. But I don't really have belts any...

belt tension gauge for mower deck?

Your mileage may vary (YMMV). When I priced it up, I found my dealer was selling engine oil about the same price as I'd get for reasonable quality at the local car parts store. Hydraulic fluid also about the same cost as a reasonable generic. Filters and parts generally cheaper than elsewhere...

    L3200 RAT-TAT-TAT noise, starts intermittently

It can mean the starter isn't spinning fast enough, so the gear on the end of the starter isn't engaging with the flywheel. That makes a scratchy kind of rat-tat-tat noise. What happens is that the starter is normally not engaged with the flywheel. When you turn the key the starter spins, and...

    B2601. 54" or 60" loader?

You can get the tractor, then take it back to fit the backhoe. If that was something you needed.

belt tension gauge for mower deck?

There's two different sorts of Chinese stuff. There's the "it's made in the same factory by the same guy, but we sell it out the back door not the front door" type. And there's the "we make it with the cheapest materials we can find, and it's kind of the same size but not the same thing at all"...

    Engine swap on L2501

Yup. With tractors it seems that if the tractor you want isn't quite what you want any more, by far the best path is to sell it and buy the tractor you want.

Fixing hole in side of block

I think NIW suggested a rebore and oversize pistons? That was on the 2500 hour short block?

Fixing hole in side of block

Is there potential to mix and match parts between the two engines? Best parts of both, plus some new parts for the things NIW suggests.

    Which Kubota is right?

    Yes, I think they are: BX2380: 898cc / 3200 RPM / 23HP BX2680: 1001cc / 3200 RPM / 26HP B2301: 1001cc / 2800 RPM / 23HP B2601: 1123cc / 2800 RPM / 26HP LX2610: 1261cc / 2500 RPM / 26HP L2502: 1647cc / 2200 RPM / 26HP I assume the BX2680 and B2301 are the same motor, given the same...

    Engine swap on L2501

Is your motor in some way broken? If you're replacing it anyway, then sure, look at a more powerful one. If not, then turbo is definitely the way to go. I also think you can push up the revs on the engine (if your PTO implement isn't too upset about running a bit faster than 540rpm) and get...

    Rehashing old tach idea

I spray with my B2601. So agree totally. Pick the gear, set the revs to a known good point, HST to the floor, I know I'm getting the application rate I expect. Works fine on the flat, not so good on hills (the HST slips a bit).

    Looking to purchase

Position control on the 3ph. The BX has an up/down lever. Push it up the 3ph starts going up. Let the lever go, it stops going up. Otherwise called "quarter inching". The B2601 and larger have a position control. The 3ph lever you set to position 3, then the 3ph height is at position 3. Set it...

    Which Kubota is right?

I made this table a few years back when I was looking at the B2601. It's the previous models, but the measures haven't changed. https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/threads/bx-vs-b01-vs-b50.36719/ I agree that the stats don't tell the story. Looking at those stats you'd say the LX (used...

    Looking to purchase

A BX is not too big. You will use a loader all the time, you don't know how good it is till you have it. Get turf tires all round, there's no issues with that. Get the 60 inch deck, no reason not to. You don't need a BX2680, the BX2380 does everything the same unless you're driving a lot of PTO...

Feedback on used tractor purchase (and in general)

Grand L is a great machine. Maybe too big. But excellent machine, specially if you need a cab.

    Which Kubota is right?

This is not correct. They are both 26HP motors, but the B2601 is larger capacity, and makes the 26HP at lower revs.

    Which Kubota is right?

An L wouldn't be unreasonable, and isn't a lot more money. If you don't want to mow, you'd probably be super happy with an L. But a B will do the job.

    Which Kubota is right?

I agree with your assessment. B2601 sounds about right. More detail. The B2601 has a tighter turning circle because it has split brakes. Actually turning that tightly requires using the split brakes, and you shouldn't do that on your lawn. Turning circle was never an issue for me on my BX, and...
