    Cold Weather Starting

What's the make and viscosity rating of your winter oil? I am using 5w-40 Rotella T6 year round here in SE Manitoba. No need to change to summer weight oil at all, and does start more readily in the cold compared to the 10W-30 semi-synth diesel oil I was using before n this machine. I don't...

Kubota B2650 and Snow Blower B2781B Tensioner for PTO Gear box keeps breaking

I would say this☝plus check play for several more spins AFTER you tighten the 4 locking bolts. From experience, the final tighten will slightly move the PTO sprocket assembly and the free play will no longer be correct. Mine seemed to over-tighten the chain. Ruile of thumb: Always be...

Kubota B2650 and Snow Blower B2781B Tensioner for PTO Gear box keeps breaking

Loosen the bolts that jhold the tension just enough to allow the gear box to move. Adjust chain tension (with that screw that keeps breaking) so that the chain has the 1/16" play needed. Check for chain play while slowly hand rotating the sprockets through several turns of the large sprocket...

    cleaning air filter

I bought one new air filter for my tractor for the first service interval. The original filter I replaced with it got detergent washed as per manual then rinsed and dried ready for the next service. Same with the fuel fiter. Got a second one, replaced the original which I rinsed out in kerosene...

    RPMs up and down

In current meteorological terms wind chill is definitely a measure of human perception, as "feels like". I agree. But I will puty forward that when most cold weather (meaning beklow freezing at least) equipment operators here, and others, try to describe the effect of wind on both the speed of...

    Snow removal

My B2650 is 19.5hp rated PTO too. I'm running the front mount B2782B 64" blower off the mid-pto and as far as power supply from the tractor it's fine. As the snow depth/consistency/temperature changes I just go whatever speed using the gear range and especially HST pedal to adjust snow feed...

    B2782B snowblower

The shear bolts are offered with either nut and lockwasher, or poly insert locknuts, from my K dealership. I was asked which I preferred when I last went to stock up. And yes, always use lockwashers directly beneath the nut, not the bolt head.

Land plane or box blade with scarifiers for an icy gravel driveway?

Our parking area covered with packed snow became solid smooth ice late last winter to where walking involved walking bent-kneed with my arms spread out and crab shuffling to cross it in one piece. The slightest slope spelled real danger. Enough was enough, had to try something, so put the box...

    RPMs up and down

Ok, from Windchill is not a temperature! which I found because I'm a prairie guy and easily remember the watts per square meter windchill values being used. That has changed obv, but as far as open to arguement your comment kind of irked me. "Before 2001, the Prairies used a windchill index...

    B2782B snowblower

Could it be that that shear bolt's nut was a bit loose, which would allow the shear groove to slide out of alignment from its shear plane inside the tube? Then the bolt wouldn't shear under stress like it should.

    RPMs up and down

Wind chill has been described as watts/sq meter here in CA, which tells me that the ability of moving air vs still air to remove heat from inaminate objects at a temperature greater than the air in its path is what "wind chill" means. Then CA meteorogogists changed to a "feels like" wind chill...

Changed transmission fluid and now bucket won’t work

My HST tractor's manual says to rotate the (power) steering all the way left then right to purge any air in the system.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Indeed strange, but I found the place it caught on while removing the blower the other day. As usual, I f-ed it up by being impatient, and very cold conditions aggravated the problem. When these hoses warm up they melt the snow that settles on them and end up a stiff frozen mess to remove from...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Found the snowblower had been pissing trails of hydraulic fluid for most of the last hour's work I did with it the other day. Dug out the #&$!%$&*!!! frozen-in hoses and found an inch long split in the chute rotation motor hose. Right in the middle of its 6 ft long run. So off to the Kubota...

Ideas for improving cutting edge on B2782B front mount snowblower

I just push the blower down with the joystick and raise the front wheels an inch or 2, and with the brake pedals unlinked, steer with right/left brake action and hydrostatic trans speed control. The shoes are adjusted as high as they can go. The tractor front end and blower weight rubs out any...

    Snowblower help

While you're in there check ALL the hex set screws on the blower input shaft. They keep the pto female ujoint, sprokets and bearings tight to the 2500rpm shaft, where the hex set screws pin the 1/4x1/4" keys and where there's a second key, to lock to the shaft directly too. My B2782B got noisy...

    Snowblower help

The reduction gear drive chain, that gets chain oiled, will get quite loud if under or over tightened. Too tight makes even more noise than too loose. I did a chain tension adjust a couple years ago on my B2782B blower and found I overtightened the chain a bit and it rattled something aweful...
