    Toolbox Hot Items

Using a heavy carabiner, I hang on the top link "handle" a 12" crescent wrench by the loop in the end of its handle. The wrench handle slides easily into that little loop for plenty of adjustment torque, then used to snug up the tightener nut. It's a permanent fixture on my 3-point, unless like...

    Toolbox Hot Items

Any implements with that new tractor? Each implement will have its own "bring along" tool and hardware kit requirements, which often overlap with other implements but not always. Like the mentioned keeper pins and clips for sure. Some kind of round drift for releasing sheared shear pins, hammer...

    Snowblower chain adjustment

The sprockets were slightly out of round the first year since new, when I delved into the maintenance schedule and attempted my first chain tension adjustment. That was after a about a half a winter snow blowing season. It's fine, as long as it isn't wearing out the chain and needing increasing...

    Snowblower chain adjustment

I check my blower reduction box play before every job. There's the chain tension which now after 5 years has settled in and rarely needs tightening anymore, but beware that the 2 sprockets it's on are not perfectly round or concentric and the chain free play adjustment needs to be measured at...

    LX2963 snowblower issues

i had the same thought - be nice to see this issue in action.

    LX2963 snowblower issues

I have a chain but am referring to the reduction gearbox where the PTO shaft connects to the rear of the blower. My B2782B blower looks exactly like yours from the front, with the worm gear in the middle. And yes you may want to reconsider this design if your snow conditions are consistently...

    LX2963 snowblower issues

Looked again at the video, didn't get a good look but it appears that the right side of the blower wasn't having the same snow pileup like the left side was. If so, are you sure the left side auger is turning? I sometimes put a heavy enough item on the driver's seat to keep the seat safety...

    LX2963 snowblower issues

I also see this once or twice a year when I'm snowblowing wet snow, B2782B 63". Two things I notice: - if the ground hasn't frozen solid yet the snow releases easily in those pesky sheets your vid shows piling up in front and they glide along the ground being pushed by the bottom edge of the...

    LX2963 snowblower issues

Make sure the augers lead edges are opposite each other. I've replaced an auger shear bolt but put the lead edges lined up with each other instead of 180 degrees apart, and the snow piling up issue was more or less as you describe.

B2650 coolant leaks, check those hose clamps

Took out the snowblower into some heavy snowbanks and got it up to 4 bars on the temp gauge, shut it down and opened the hood, dry as a bone now. I'll watch again in case I run into the same thing you did, that leaking after tightening and cooldown.

B2650 coolant leaks, check those hose clamps

I have noticed a small loss of coolant i.e. the reservoir level gets a bit lower every once in a while over the 5 years since new. Checked the pressure cap, seemed ok, so let it go until yesterday when the obvious smell of coolant steam made me stop to check it out. Opening the hood with engine...

Will I break the transmission by running chains on rear tires in 4x4?

From your post it seemed to me it was a choice of diif lock OR 4x4, not using both together. I run 4x4 almost all winter having no pavement here and ground frozen solid, for whatever I'm using the tractor for including snow blowing. No chains. In 4x4 often need the diff lock engaged at the...

B2410 HST Fill Plug... Why Did It Depart?

I kept a plastic juice crate with supplies for chainsawing etc on top of the 3-point upper lift arms when I shuttle the trailer and tools out to the cutting area, until once I lowered then lifted back up the 3-point a bit with the crate on there. I then got home and noticed the cap had been...

    Rotary Cutter

Woods RC60.20 has stump jumper and belt skirt cover as standard, and still comes in a 494 lbs. That's a unit to last a long time! If you go for this make or pretty much any fixed rotary cutters like it I advise you ask for an experienced tech at the dealers to show you how it's mounted and...

    Rotary Cutter

Just be sure that new Woods 5' rotary cutter at the dealer is under 500lb, as the weight can change in the same models over the decades. Adding safety skirt chains and maybe a stump jumper may add too much weight to be healthy for a B2650 3-point.

    Rotary Cutter

So far after 2 summers running a gifted Woods M5-4 "Dixie Cutter" 5' rotary mower my B2650 seems to have no trouble handling it, and cut 1 1/2" weed poplars taking over some of my fields. It's a 490 lb unit bare bones, no skirt apron or stump jumper, and within our tractor's 3-point limit for a...

    Repacking hydraulic cyclinder

Given I had the seals already and was planning to install myself, or even take to a machinist neighbor to help install, your point is moot, in this case. And the seals were OEM from the dealership who I trust to honor a defective seals replacement if it came to that. Now I know that the job...

    Newbie fuel level question

I wait until my 7 us gal B2650 tank is at 2 or even 1 "bars" on the fuel gauge before filling, under 1/4 tank, so my 20L diesel jugs will empty into the tank completely. At one bar there's still about 1 1/2 gallon in the tank according the the capacity spec of my tank, given how full 20L added...

    Repacking hydraulic cyclinder

I bought the Kubota seal kit for my similarly leaky front snowblower raise/lower cylinder, and carefully unscrewed the gland nut and pulled the cylinder to inspect and replace the seals. I've never attempted repair of a hydraulic cylinder before, unless you count my rebuilding my 70s and 80s...

    How to dig a trench

I'm no electrician but have been watching some threads on other venues about this, as I buried a "direct burial" rated CAT6 cable inside a 1" poly pipe across our yard, only about 12" deep. It's low voltage and replaceable so not worried about future damage from unaware digging. It's been 1 1/2...
