I don't know about anyone else, but my tractor still has pressure at idle. I have to turn the engine off and THEN relieve the pressure (which I do every time I turn the machine off). And if you retract one cylinder it usually means you're extending another. *Not sure what I was thinking here...

Heat and crayons (or canning wax) work wonders. Tough thing with that is you want to heat the hole. Harder to do on a big chunk. Plus you don't want to damage seals.

Jay, that's a great suggestion. Most decent shops up here are a LOT of money. And I don't have time to track down the steel and weld it my self. At least not right now. I may end doing it or I may just order that frame at a later date. One thing at a time. I want to get my auger running first...

I saw that thread awhile back. I may order one of those at some point but I'm starting with an EA tools auger. See how this thing does before I throw any more big money at it.

If you can mount it to a Skid Steer you can probably mount it to a newer Kubota. Having the power to run it is a different story. The PTO probably won't have the RPMs for this. They're talking about a max of 3600.

Speaking of log size, the log in my avatar was so heavy my buddies full size excavator couldn't fully lift it. Had to drag it. Roughly 5 feet at the base, 4 foot diameter 16? 18? foot red oak log. I had to chop the base off so I could mill with a 52" bar.

I'm concerned with how much weight the front suspension and loader arms can handle. Plus associated pivot points.

Wasn't in jest. :) So far I don't use anything in the rear except the BH. And it takes up much less space on the back than storing it. I can see where some spaces would be too tight for it though. To each there own. :)

Maybe I missed something; what's wrong with using the backhoe as ballast? Even blowing snow you need weight in the rear. My little lawn tractor will sometimes have trouble moving through thick heavy snow, even with tire chains. Leaning back in the seat usually helps. I doubt that would work on...
