    Choosing between recommended oil weights

I have been running Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 in almost all my equipment around the farm for years. Seems to be a good oil. I did run one change of Shell T6 15-40 in the MX last year as I couldn't find any 5W-40 for a bit.

Went over to the red side.

Buddy stopped by over the weekend. He had won a Milwaukee 18 Volt cordless grease gun in a drawing. Had no need for it offered it to me for a hundred bucks. Looks like the kit with the battery, charger and tool is normally three hundred bucks on sale for two twenty or so. I thought a hundred...

I named my splitter the Beastonmade 🤣

Couple nice ways to process wood. I have stayed away from the bi-directional splitters because we normally split onto a conveyor into a trailer. I normally burn 10-15 cord of hedge a year in my Garn boiler. I built a processor a dozen or so years ago but it seems like the last couple of years I...

    Tractor(s?) for Vermont

If it was me I sure wouldn't buy two tractors. A MX6000 HST with a cab and loader would be the way I would go. I would put a three point blower on it. You can move a lot of snow with a front end loader to. Use the blower when needed and you will have your loader on to feed round bales. I would...

    HST vs Shuttle Shift

I have a MX6000 HST and in that size tractor or smaller I wouldn't have anything but a HST. I use mine fairly heavy. I probably put 100 hours on it this summer running a 7 FT type bush hog in heavy mowing and put several hundred hours on it this last year with a two hundred gallon sprayers on it...

    Grapple Hose Length Question

If it was mind this is what I would do. I run two trap straps on my grapple that I run on my skid loader to keep the hoses from been torn off. Brush and tree limbs like to tear hyd hoses off.

No 4WD light on MX tractors .... kind of annoying.

It was a year old last June. I put a lot of hours on it spraying. I used it a little a month ago to move some equipment around in the shed. It stays parked for the winter. It doesn't even have a block heater and won't have one probably until I sell it. I put one on the Agco it replaced when I...

    New member surge

I grew up in a service station truck stop in the 60's and 70's and worked on a lot of gelled up, froze up trucks and TK units. The boys out of the south would up threw and not be ready for winter. I have been farming for forty plus years in a area with a lot of acreage folks. I have seen a few...

No 4WD light on MX tractors .... kind of annoying.

Its funny how we all like different things on these tractors. I am north of thousand hours on my MX6000 now and probably have only had in FWA a half dozen times. I don't need a light for the FWA. I need a better screen set up for the radiator and oil coolers. We were so dry this summer I had to...

Land plane or box blade with scarifiers for an icy gravel driveway?

In my area one inch crusher run lime stone is the common drive way material out in the country. I use my toothed bucket on my skid loader when we get ice build up on the driveway. When it gets real bad I get my heavy ROBO grapple out and use the teeth on it with the skid steer. I run one set of...

Whats the coldest temps outside you will run your Kubota?

Not a Kubota tractor as my MX6000 doesn't do much winter duty. It doesn't even have a block heater. My S-850 Bobcat skid loader has a Kubota engine in it. I have a heated shop but it doesn't stay in there. Normally winter projects in there. It stays in a unheated pole shed. It was air temp -35...

Help buying a used RTV 900

The only way I am buying a side by side that is that old is has to be a true one owner, low hour machine on a estate sale. Most side by sides that old have had many owners and have been beat. Side by sides are not cheap to rebuild.

Any advice on which one to buy?

I have been in the farming game for well over forty years. I moved and feed a ton of round bales with a G JD and a stanhoist loader. Next was a 3020 gas with a 46A JD loader used it for years then moved up to a 4240 and JD725 loader. I like my MX6000 with loader for general around the farm...

    Rotary Mower Damage

Your friend needs to be buying you a new trailer. Had a BIL years ago who used my best grain trailer { trailer had never hauled rock} to back haul rock in it. I had another older trailer I used for that purpose. It beat up my good trailer. He got to buy the trailer. I don't put up with that...

    $25,000 for a 2005 KX161-3, with around 6,000 hours, that leaks?

I would join this group. Lots of good folks over there that know heavy equipment. Years ago I had a bearing go out on my torque convertor on my Cat 941B track loader and the book and shop manager at Cat told me the trans and diff had to come out to get the torque convertor out. I got on that...

Kubota Round Baler hook up issue

Glad it worked out I have used them many times over the years. Always got top notch service from them. They built a custom harness for me for a bean planter I put together years back.

    Zero Turn Mowers

Been running Grasshopper zero turn's for close to thirty years. Mow lots of banks, ditches and such no problems. Current one is a 325D with a Kubota diesel engine. I would never go back to mowing with a tractor style.

Gas Additives - What's your favorite snake oil..?

I grew up in a small truck stop, filling station business in the 60's and 70's and the amount of gas, diesel and oil additives we would sell would scare you. People have there favorite's. I don't use additives. I buy good clean non corn gas for my small engines. Keep it clean and fresh and...

    60 gallon 3 pt sprayer...too big for a B7500?

I used a 60 gallon three point sprayer on a Agco ST-25 which appears to be close in size to your B7500 with no FEL. No problem lifting it full but I always had 300 pound of front weights on the front. My pastures are fairly hilly. I ran it for a lot of years and a couple thousand hours. I would...

    Traded L4060HSTC for MX6000 cab

I will throw out my thoughts. I probably ran close to 100 hours last summer with a seven foot bush hog on my MX6000. Only heat issue I had was with the radiator screen plugging. You don't see any SP windrowers, SP sprayers, skid loaders or combines parking when it hot out. I have owned and ran...
