    MX5400 Top Link

I like you don't care for the length of the top link on my MX- 6000 so its hanging on the peg board in the shed. I ended up custom building one that fits my needs better. I don't adjust my top link much so I didn't need a hyd one.

Please ease my mind - Kubota L4802 vs Mahindra 5145 - Kubota $10k more, less functional?

To the OP. Its mostly green around my farm. With that being said a few years back when I wanted to up grade my smaller Agco I looked at a lot of different brands and really thought I would buy JD. Ended up going with Kubota. Thought I had a L4701 with loader bought and the dealer sold it out...

540 to 1000 rpm pto conversion

I have never increased a 540 PTO speed to 1000 PTO speed but years ago I ran a Hub City gear box on a JD 4840 1000 PTO only to have 540 PTO. Back then all our equipment was 540. It work well but it was a big gear box mostly in the way. I think back then it was a couple thousand dollars for the...

YES!!!...Just buy that damn thing....One more good reason to buy a back hoe......

Over the years I have owned several back hoes. I have had a couple three point hoes, a couple tractors with built in hoes and a couple hoes that fit skid loaders and a couple portable back hoes. Most of the time had them around for a larger job. Someone always comes along and offers me way more...

Bad seal on brush hog gearbox?

I have a fifteen foot flex wing mower that came from the factory with corn head picker grease in all the gear boxes. I don't have a gear box on the farm that doesn't have corn head picker grease in it. Always make sure you don't have any moisture in your gear boxes and that the vents aren't...

    Cutter gear box fun

This is how I would handle it. I have very few gearboxes on the farm that have 80/90 gear oil in them. I use corn head grease in most gear boxes. My bat wing mower came with corn head grease in it from the factory.

Anyone have a Woods FPS (Food Plot Seeder) e.g. Woods FPS72

mcmxi I throw some things out there. I don't know much about notilling as I have been notilling corn ,beans and milo for well over thirty five years. LOL. I was one of the first ones in my area to notill. I have a corn and a bean notill planters. Maintenance on notill planters is high. Now...

Anyone have a Woods FPS (Food Plot Seeder) e.g. Woods FPS72

mcmxi Soil testing is a must to make sure your seed selection is right. In my area nobody plows or discs any ground that is going to get seeded. Too much moist is lost and too many weeds are getting stirred. Any seed that is drilled in this area is notilled drilled. Either inter seeded or...

    Lifting a ton with MX5400?

So some real world numbers for you on the MX6000 open station three wheel weights on each side. Tires not loaded and a seven foot bush hog on the three point. Late last summer I had 160 acres of CRP cut and baled {BIG ROUND}. The guy that did the haying had a JD baler with a scale and they...

    Lifting a ton with MX5400?

If I had a two thousand pound pallet of product on the flatbed to be unloaded I would grab the S-850 Bobcat skid loader and leave the MX6000 in the shed.

    Diesel fuel additive

I grew up in the fuel business. I would hate to think how many millions of gallons of diesel I have pumped, hauled and burned. The amount of power service we would sell in a season was crazy. Best advice is to buy clean fuel and keep it clean. Out here on the farm I use some power service and...

    Used MX5800 vs L5740

Glad its all working out. I would probably install the third function valve and then change the hyd fluid and the two filters. Don't forget to pull the engine air filters and check them. With range shift I try to be on level ground with no pressure on the drive train when I shift the range.

    Used MX5800 vs L5740

Are you saying he told you the fifty hour service wasn't done? If it hasn't had any service that would throw up a red flag for me. Most folks that don't service equipment in a timely manner run things hard and put them away wet. Usually talking with someone on the phone you can get a idea on...

    What tractor for 26 acres?

I would go for the MX but would probably bump it up and go MX6000. It will run a eight foot bush hog and a small square baler with no problem. Unless your going to put a lot of hours on in the winter pushing snow I would skip the cab its a big price difference to get the cab. I do a ton of spot...

    Factory MX rear remote issues.

Linkages would be the first think I would check to make sure snow, dirt or cab shifted a touch causing the problems. Cold causes a lot of problems with hyd's. I don't know anyone that uses a Kubota in the cold so I don't know if they have any issues. I don't have any remotes on my MX6000 and it...

    Low vs. Med

Its funny the AGCO I had before the MX6000 only had a two speed. I thought with the three speed I would use medium more. No I don't think in thousand plus hours I have used medium an hour. High for the road and low for every thing else. I like more peddle movement that low gives me.

    Stocked up

Its that time of the year. Dealers and some of the parts stores like NAPA run there filter sales. If you run any green paint JD is running there oil and filter 10 to 15 percent off right now. I try to buy all my filters for ever thing this time of the year during the sales. It always amazing...

Bush Hog Road Grader RG72 Ripping itself to shreds

If it was mine. I would heat the damaged part up. Hammer it back in place. Plate the damage section up. Paint it back up and take it to the local consignment auction and move it on. Go and buy a well built heavy duty one that won't do that. Its not worth spending a bunch of money rebuilding the...

Planter suited to run on an L3901

Years back around here when guys were getting bigger planters you could buy the old JD 7000 ground drive four row planters pull type and three point mounts for five hundred or less. I would hate to think how many I cut down and made two row planters for planting wet spots and sweet corn and then...

Went over to the red side.

I sure wouldn't expect him to give me the grease gun as a matter of fact I tried to give him another fifty for it. So far I have run two cases of corn head picker grease threw it and like it a lot. The push button bleed is nice when you load a new tube. Its also nice to be able to lock the...
