Fix it or leave it alone?

Well we got er fixed fellas - atleast, its straight enough you cant see or discern what slight bend may remain. Im attaching the old picture here again along with one I took after fixing it so you can see the difference. I drove out to a tree, slung the ratchet strap around, got it all lined...

    Pulled the trigger L2501

got my 2501 last year. havent regretted it one bit. You will enjoy it. There is a lot more tractor on the L2501 than the other BX and B 25 horse tractors. 1 suggestion I always give new 2501 owners: Spend the $16 and buy the INNER AIR FILTER from messicks online or your local dealer. It takes 5...

    B3350 headlights

completely normal - just as in a vehicle. When you turn lights on, other switches and buttons light up so you can see them. The reasoning being, quite obviously, that if its dark and you need lights, that you need to also see your HUD and other switches and buttons.

    Will not crank?

great points henro and very right - could very well be a safety switch issue. Id definitely go over everything - check your seat safety switch, make sure PTO isnt accidentally engaged, etc etc.

    Zero Turn Mower

had never heard of ferris. Never seen one. I looked them up. there is a dealer about 50 miles away. Ill add them to the list to check out. Thanks

    Will not crank?

Yes I would 100% check the battery first, given it can cause the same exact issue as you are describing. One thing you can also do is take a multimeter and check the battery yourself. While not a super accurate test, checking the voltage you get on the terminals can be a clue. If you are...

    hp ? ... torque ... hmm

Just wanted to clarify that the L2501 manual specifies that for rotary cutters, the max recommended cutting width is 60" and max weight for a rotary cutter is 770Lbs. Ive seen people run light duty 6' cutters on the L2501 and it ran it fine. If you take it easy and use common sense. Personally...

Fix it or leave it alone?

You make a great suggestion. I had thought of this. When I rachet it I plan to have the ratchet right near the front so I can watch it. I thought of just putting the strap by itself around the bar, I just felt bracing it felt safer. My biggest concern, and its likely not realistic, would be...

Fix it or leave it alone?

LOL! I literally laughed out loud when I read this magicman, thanks so much for the laugh. I have learned my lesson though. Ill just put the bucket on next time.

Fix it or leave it alone?

Angle Iron would be much preferred over my board idea for sure, but I dont have any on hand. The board is likely going to be annoying until I get the strap tight enough to hold it but I do worry about the board shifting under the force. I may have to get creative. Ill think on it throughout the...

Fix it or leave it alone?

This would be the most ideal solution but I do not trust my welding skills, and I dont have a powerful enough welder to do the welds properly. If the bend was more severe I would likely be looking at this option however. With the bend being as slight as it is, I feel like I should be able to get...

Fix it or leave it alone?

That would open up a lot of options, but I feel like this is solvable without spending that much money. The more I think about it, the more I feel the ratchet should work if I get the angle of pull just right, and go slow. Put a length of 2x4 on the back side on the bend, then put the ratchet...

Fix it or leave it alone?

Another great idea. hadn't thought of this one. I don't have any channel on hand though so would have to get that. I wonder how straight I can get it with just a really straight piece of 2x4 and the ratchet strap. Initially the wood wont be touching the bar on the ends, but once the bar...

Fix it or leave it alone?

I done something stupid this weekend folks. I was using my disc harrow, and elected not to put a bucket or anything on the front of the tractor just to have a little extra more turning room. Everything went well, until I got off the tractor after parking it. I happen to look down and notice I...

    Oil change timing? Grease?

You say its a 2008, and you've never changed the oil since you bought it. Had fresh oil when purhcased. Question is - when did you buy it? We dont know how long that oil has been sitting in there. Id say 2 years maximum on low usage equipment as a rule of thumb. Every year however is what most...

    Zero Turn Mower

appreciate the additional replies. Ive 100% decided to wait at least another year before making this purchase, as its going to be a little larger purchase. I was so tempted to jump in and do it this year, because I really want a new one, but I need to hold off and pay a few things off before...

What are the dangers from over filled hydraulic fluid?

Yea, even when the tractor appears to be sitting pretty level it can appear totally empty or over filled. Move to concrete pad and now it shows more normal. Its literally just a few ounces. That window must be in a fairly narrow part near the top. Appreciate the info sidecar. I think ill not...

    I gota vent

And the store clerk said, as you walked out, "We scared away another DUI" lol. Ive never drank a sip of alcohol in my life, much less purchased it, or tobacco, but I suspect its down to some policy. Likely just following orders. I do wonder however if they can legally refuse the sale of beer to...

    3PH while mowing

I was just about to say, I saw this same exact issue come up on the forums here just a few weeks ago. I responded there that that seems like a real flaw for the BX series. I was hoping it was just an isolated issue. I guess this is a flaw with the BX.

What are the dangers from over filled hydraulic fluid?

Ill give a quick backstory that makes me curious about this question. If you arent interested in the why, then skip to the next paragraph. I recently did my 50 hour maintenance on my L2501. As part of that I had an issue with the hydraulic filter that was discovered only as I took the filter...
