M5040 lunges forward when shuttle shift in neutral

I think I know what you're talking about. It's aggravating. Sounds like the old hydraulic shuttle transmission. There is not a dedicated "clutch", the "clutch" pedal is attached to a hydraulic valve that varies the hydraulic flow and pressure to the forward and reverse shuttle clutches. What...

L3710 hst grinding sound no forward or reverse

Sounds clutch related to me. In low gear, does it even attempt to move at all? Sometimes when the clutch dies, you can put it in the lowest gear that it's got, and it'll try to move a little....that's usually (but not always) a dead giveaway that it's clutch related. If you want to know for...

    9540 shifting hard

The open station tractors are harder to shift than the cab models, I guess the linkage differences. I seem to remember an improvement publication from Kubota about it (could be wrong)-might be worth calling the dealer to see what the bulletin entails. Just because there's a bulletin doesn't...

    Bx 24 Fuel tank removal

Remove floorboard, and HST pedal Remove ROPS. Remove rear fenders (don't forget the 12v accessory outlet..just unplug it). Remove the two fuel tank stays on the rear of where the roll bar goes. Remove fuel lines. (fuel's gonna drain out). Then remove the fuel tank. It's a pain. But what's...

    Kubota acquire Great Plains

Yep...and there has been talk about it for YEARS. So it's about time.

What do you use for a welder?

MillerMatic 211, with spoolgun. 75/25. Originally started with straight CO2, and autoset does not work with CO2. 2 things I don't like about the 211 (this is the old style, transformer based 211). The ground clamp isnt that great, and the flow gauge isn't that great. I plan on fixing both...

    Tightening Loader Bucket Bolts?

They're supposed to be a little loose-the assembly manual specified I think 1/4" between the nut and the pin boss on most of them. I never questioned why. I suspect it has to do with not crushing the pin boss down-even slightly-which would make the pin tough to remove when the time comes.

    B7100 Dynamo reaveals crud

Test it with a volt meter, an accurate one. One probe in the coolant inside the radiator filler neck, the other probe on the radiator metal part itself. 0.6v and it's time to replace it. 0.4v is about normal. 0.8 and more, it's been junk for years and expect to have to replace the rubber...

    RTV-900 Rear Hub removal

If they've been on a while, you WILL need a hub puller. I rented one recently at Autozone for a different project at home, but they are basically the same as the one I have at work-and they work well. I've beated, banged, broken, busted, invented new words, soaked them, ruined some axle...

    B3350 DPF Bypass

After I quit the dealer, I briefly went to work in the oil field. Got to meet a lot of interesting people. Most of my "work friends" drove newer diesel trucks. One in particular was a '13 F250 6.7L PSD. Yep DFP delete which means full exhaust system. Also was tuned. It ran awesome and...

    B3350 DPF Bypass

At one time there was at least one ebay seller who was writing the tunes for an M series DPF delete. Supposedly increased HP, torque, and "best of all" eliminated the DPF. I have "heard" that the seller is involve a long drawn out legal process, which likely will land him some prison time. It...

    mx5100 hst hydraulic filter change

The HST filter has an o-ring on it. All one has to do it spin it on, and snug it up. They always seem to tighten themselves up over time. However, with the O-ring, they are really sensitive to dirt/debris/etc getting between the filter and it's mounting base. It needs to be squeaky clean or...

    Kubota Insurance

Recently talked to a dealer I used to work for. Guy running the shop is a friend of mine. Anyway, they have an RTV-X1100 in the shop, engine is junk (knocking horribly, no compression on front cylinder). Guy changed his own oil and left the filter loose-which looks to me like it's easy to do...

    ether used to start

Bet it's more engine related than fuel related. Broken rings, ring lands, etc. Pretty common among Kubota's combined with starting fluid. I used to see it a few times a year, right around February usually as that's the coldest part of the year here. Gut I know couldn't get his '95...

    Kubota Insurance

Have dealt with the Kubota insurance quite a bit. It's seamless at any Kubota dealer. Drop tractor off (or have them pick it up, they'll pay transportation charges), they call you when it's done. Pretty simple. You do have to call Kubota insurance to start a claim though, but that's about...

    Dip stick and oil level

Haven't seen a lot of Japanese cars? Some of them use a "sump" that doubles as main caps supports. Hit an object and, well, nevermind. More poor engineering? I reckon if the oil level was below the pan gasket level, one wouldn't need to worry about putting a gasket between the two surfaces...

    Equipment Abuse?

I worked in a shop that messed with Kubota stuff for a long time. Out of every 100 tractors sold, 1 or 2 of them were used like the one in the video. Most commonly, they'd be back saying that the tractor would not do what it "should", like push trees down, demolish buildings, remove concrete...

    How to disconnect/bypass HST?

    I don't remember seeing that valve on a G2160. GR2100/2110 is a different transaxle.

    HST Pedal Stiff... FEL Weak

If it's original fluid, it's super udt2 which is semi-synthetic I'm told. All are filled at factory assembly with super udt2.
