    CONPRESION TEST RESULTS?

reminds me... i do drag racing (and did it professionally for a good while). Had a gallon of nitromethane leftover in an unmarked bottle. Brother and I was trying to figure out his old tractor and he thought it'd be wise to put a lil oil in the cylinder. Grabbed the bottle and started to put...

Kubota's new West Coast distribution center.

My neighbor is originally from Blasdell (spelled correctly??) NY. Aint any different than any other yankee best I can tell. Thinks he's smarter at everything, than anyone else. Can't tell him no different either. His wife is from here originally and they are like oil and water in some ways.

Unleash the Lathe dogs!!!!!!! who knew?

did machining in school, late 1980's and early 90's....thought I wanted to be a machinest, like my dad was (Journeyman, 50 years at the UPRR). Got a job offer at a dealership which was right nextdoor to the machine shop I wanted to work at, liked the faster pace and unpredictableness. Fun job...

Ts100 botched clutch job or minor adjustments?

beat me to it. I learned this expensive lesson when I did a clutch on my old Ford Mustang. Put the disk on backwards, all was pretty normal. First powershift the clutch exited the bellhousing. Luckily it only dented the floor and firewall instead of coming through it.

Kubota's new West Coast distribution center.

I remember when they were having a grand opening at Edgerton, Ks--I was there. Was a number of years ago, and they've added on a couple times that I know of. HUGE building but it has to be to support the growth of Kubota brands. they moved most of the central division's warehouse stuff from...

Shuddering on left side of Z724 zero turn

kubota buys the HST's for the Z7, Z4xx, Z1xx series mowers. Z7xx series mowers use Parker HST's, most of the rest of them are build by HydroGear. the ZG2xx series, ZG3xx series, and the ZD series are kubota built (mostly) and fully serviceable. The parkers did have some issues and they've...

1995 G1800 with RCK54-20 Mower Deck cutting height question...

which isn't exactly wrong, but not exactly right either measure/adjust normally, but at cutting height. Mowers are not precision pieces of equipment (at least most of them aren't) so if you level it at highest setting, it often changes as the deck drops. Thus, set it at cutting height that...

    CONPRESION TEST RESULTS?

most people put too much liquid in the cylinder to test compression, resulting in bent rods, broken pistons, etc if it's low when running a dry compression test, it's low. Find out why. Ain't hard to run a leakdown test. I'd recommend a teardown. Pull the head and the pan, have a look-see.

We've priced ourselves out of business

not as many according to you-know-who (says we have the lowest unemployed rates, like ever)

We've priced ourselves out of business

yes if that fact alone doesn't get under the skin of every single skilled tradesman or tradeswoman, it should. When I was workin at the kubota dealer they paid me $22/hr. Barely more than what I could have made flipping burgers, and the skills (and personal investments) needed to do kubota...

We've priced ourselves out of business

well I have been watching trends over the last ~40 years and what I've seen is this. American workers' cost of living keeps going up, and they keep asking for more income to support it. Understandable, and respectable. Ask ourselves why the cost of living has increased. Reasons are many. We...

    M7040 3 Point slow lifting

i've done quite a few of those M-40's with bad/leaking (internally) position control valves. On most of the cabin models you have to lift the cab a little bit to get the top cover off to get access to the PCV. Then you can take the valve off, take it apart, free up the sticking valve(s) and...

    Battery Fires

some of the stories reminds me of a guy who worked under me at the kubota dealer. We did small flat-bottom boats and motors too, and at the time jet ski's. They sold a pair of jet skis and needed a trailer put together. Trailers came unassembled and we had to completely assemble them (Shore...

Using a Garden Sprayer to service fluids

i don't use one for pumping oil into anything (yet-but have thought about making one for this) but I have made a couple for bleeding brakes. One at work, one at the house. 2 adapters for the work one covers 85% of the equipment I deal with. Sprayer was $13, adapters were $44 for the pair at...

    Thank you CA

my girlfriend bought up this subject. "They" wanted $20/hr. And they got it. Those folks that were making $21/hr for doing a skilled trade, are making barely more than someone who's got zero skills. Those skilled workers at that income level are getting duped. Next issue she bought up...

    Battery Fires

i have seen the same thing but i've also had batteries explode with me on top of them! Lead acid, 6v golf cart batteries. That machine has 8 of them, 4 under the seat, 2 in back, 2 in front. The 4 under the seat exploded. Threw me off of the machine and about 40 feet or so. Have acid burns...

There is one thing I despise about kubota, part pricing

well there is two or more sides to every story. Avoiding the dealership is fine, until you have an issue that needs the dealership. Independent shops are not factory trained and I can tell you first hand, both from a customer and as a tech, that factory training is a LOT better than anything...
