Re: Radiator drain - what tool?

A good sized coin will fit the bill. Clamp the coin with a vise-grip if needed. Flat screwdrivers will booger up the plug.

Re: Starter relay

Symptom sounds more like a bad connection. I would check them all on that particular circuit back to the battery, and the battery ground.

Re: Suggestions while I have head removed?

Just as well off with a new head. It could be lock-n-stitched, but the labor would be around $700 with possibility of not fixing it.

Re: 12v DC non contact wire tester?

Be aware that for the 12vdc probe to work, there must be current flowing. So an energized 12vdc conductor has to have a load for the probe to work.

Re: Kodiak Rotary Cutter, Any brand cutter

A tool called a torque multiplier is what I use to take them on and off. Good practice is to replace the bolts and nuts each time the blades are replaced. If I remember right, the bolts are cut so...

Re: Hour meter repair

I suggest getting a small soldering iron, small diameter electronic solder (no acid, not plumbing), small braid for de-soldering, needle-nose pliers.

Find an old circuit board to practice...

Re: Hour meter repair

Carl

The easy way out would be to purchase a new replacement meter.

But if you are keen on repairing then the first step is to learn soldering and desoldering, electronics style. An amateur...

Re: Starting Problems

It's been a good battery to last this long. You could take it in to have it load tested, but frankly it's time for a new one, regardless.

Re: D1105T hard starting, white smoke

If you decide to get another glow plug controller, the key is NGK S85NT. The replacement needs to match voltages, timing, and current capability. Some controllers are 24V, for example.

The Doosan...

Re: Overheating problem

Diesel exhaust and gasoline exhaust are not the same. The chemical reagent in the fluid must be diesel exhaust reactive.

Radiator not working, if it were dumping heat into air there would be a...

Re: D1105T hard starting, white smoke

Sean

If you wouldn't mind looking at the glow plug controllers. NGK would put a custom number above the S85NT. For example, Doosan equipment had number 17095-65661. If you have a Kubota number it...

Re: L2550 Charging Problem

I'm assuming that the alternator does not have an external voltage regulator.

If wanting to be absolutely sure, then could dismount the alternator and take it to a shop or auto parts place to have...

Re: Overheating problem

Water pump lack of circulation you might check with laser thermometer.

Radiator, hoses, thermostat, engine oil level = all checked(?)

Of course, we're not looking for extra unneeded work.

If...

Re: Key Switch for Kubota B1500DT

You might look at Kubota 66711-55130 and 66706-55120. These may be close to what you are wanting. Pictures of these are on the internet.

Once you zero in on the switch just order by part number...

Re: Tractor Overheating

Sounds that everything else has been checked or a diagnostic advice has been given.

Exhaust gas getting into the coolant will exceed the cap pressure limit and force coolant into the overflow...

The problem with that is that the head, block, and gasket are all expanding and contracting with aggravation from temperature extremes. This ups the odds that the gasket or cylinder head could be the...

Re: Overheating problem

To be explicit on eserve's warning, if the pressure tester pushes coolant into a combustion chamber, the incompressible coolant will likely bend the connecting rod.

So make sure that no coolant...

Re: Overheating problem

Probably not transferring enough heat at the radiator fins to air. Need to have good air flow, and no insulation on fins. So need to get dirt and chaff cleaned out from radiator fins.

Once that is...

Re: Cleaning chaff off radiators

I'm interested. About once a year I pull the radiator out for a good cleaning of chaff, fluff, dirt, and small seeds.

I do have an air wand but it is hard to get in there.
