Retiring after 37 years in the hooks

Im retiring after working as a journeyman lineman for So Ca Edison for 37 years Oct 31st. I have 7 more days to work then its off to Nevada for a buck hunt come back clean my locker and desk out then its full time grandpa and part time farmer/ rancher, realy looking forward to catching up on a few projects do a little fishing and a lot more hunting and running a few more head of cattle. Ive alrerady been offered a job working for "Hot Line" a contract power line construction outfit told them no more working energized 16kv for this guy . Im not doing anything but hunt, fish and drag the 5th wheel around till next spring then maybe remodel the old kitchen and spend sometime on OTT have a good evening fellas.....Dan

Yuppers congrads, but one thing I have found out about retirement is that it is a very high stress job,, govern your self accordingly

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement, I've been retired for six years and turned down two offers to go back part time, been there done that on to next chapter. Enjoy your retirement, you certainly have earned it.

Ive heard that many times from the guys who have retired over the years, at least I may find some time catch up on projects and get my sundays back for family and NASCAR

I can sure identify with that, my wife and I say the same thing. I retired about a year before her and while she never mentioned it at the time, she now admits thinking, "why didn't he do so and so, he's retired, he's had all day..." Now that she is retired, she is as behind and unable to explain where all her time go as I.

I worked six years past my eligibility date and many people kept telling me, "Don't do it, you'll be bored to death..." We have three farms with six stocked ponds on two of them and I have only been fishing once in six years, my sons and grandchildren enjoy them though, so it's worth it.

I retired once. None of my friends were able to retire though and so I spent a lot of time waiting for them to be able to take vacations to go hunting, camping, boating... I ended up going back to work and now I am too busy to go camping, hunting, boating... Next time I retire it will be when my friends do the same.

Have a great retirement. Have fun, relax, drink some beer and shout at the TV news when politicians do stupid shit and lie to us from a teleprompter.
