Want a new tractor. Looking for suggestions.

I have a BX2380 and use it some almost daily. If something happened to it I'd get a current version in a heartbeat to replace it. I use it to mow the lawn and haul stuff in the dump trailer.

I also have an old (55+ years) utility tractor that has seen better days. If I replace it I need something for mowing my 14 acres of fields and doing some other work where I need a front loader.

Any suggestions? Should I stick with another Kubota or get some other make?

Depending on how long you want it to take to mow and how much you want to spend (those two may not match) that might help suggest some options. I think from what others have said you have some good info already, but if more specific on your criteria may get some other responses (maybe).

How long do you want it to take when you mow? Without that piece of info there is a pretty big range of options that will do what you are asking.

Is there a price cap?

I think after asking those two questions maybe find where they collide or come closest to each other. (If you have a lift capacity in mind that would be helpful to narrow down choices as well)

Is a 3-point carry box another name for a carry all? I'd love to have one of those for carrying bags of mulch, fertilizer, potted plants, etc. My wife wanted the dump trailer we have but it's cumbersome when I have to lift everything over the sides.

Other than buying some more screws, it's all stuff that was laying around I couldn't throw away. Everything can come in handy at some point :) RFM's have replaced the DIY 3-point leaf blower so it was decommissioned. I stripped the blower from the frame and made revisions to the top link and...

Sound advice here, IMHO. Would only add that in a similar situation I ended up keeping - and using - both a BX and a much larger Grand L. Each had its jobs to do where the small or large size was very useful. If your budget and your space permit, that's a really good combination.

Can't go wrong with the Grand L. Got no complaints with ours.

I cut around 14 acres as well. With 6 feet of mower at 3.5mph it takes quite a few frosty beverages to get through it. And the ground is a bit too bumpy to go any faster because of said beverages lol.

Wow! You can cut at 3.5mph? I'm lucky to get over 2mph with a 12ft folding cutter, 7ft rotary cutter or 5ft flail. I guess you're not cutting stuff that's very tall or on a property that's hilly. The photo taken at my friend's place this past summer gives the impression that the ground is smooth but it's not.

Talked to the Kubota dealership salesman yesterday and he gave me brochures on a few tractors he recommended for my needs. He dropped by today to look over my old equipment so he can make an offer.

Still picking out what I want.

I think another Kubota is the right choice.

I bought a new L3902HST a few months back just for running my 6" mower. Couldn't be happier and the spousal unit enjoys running it as the HST makes it easy for her.

I think if you stick with Kubota you'll be doing much better than say a John Deere .
They used to be looked up at years ago, and I always used to drink the green Kool Aid. But when I sold my JD zero turn mower, I went with a Wright Stander and happy with my decision. And when I sold my JD 2950 I went with a Kubota Grand L5460 and don't regret not going green one little bit.

I've owned two open station tractors and two cabbed tractors and I would agree with you re the cab.

I've owned 4 JD products over the last 30 years. 3 of them have been reliable and trouble free. The last one had so many quirks and issues that I traded it in on a Kubota and haven't looked back.

JD seems to be having a lot of poor building issues from the factory according to JD forums.

I will not have another JD.

Lol, Luckily its all blueberry rows which do end up becoming more like lanes after a few.... it helps.

Which one and why: MX5400HST or L4060HST-LE?

I'd buy the L4060. The Grand-L is a more luxury machine, flash transmission, lots of more luxury features. Cab is a good idea, depending on your climate. But it's not really about me.

For your specific use, an MX is probably better. More tractor, bigger cutter on the back.

Both of them will do the job. The MX will do it a bit faster and with a bit more power. The Grand-L will do it with more comfort but a bit slower.
