Phase 2 - Tool Boxes
@BX23S-1

This is the direction I'm going on both sides. When finished, the upright piece will have platforms TIG Welded on top and bottom for fastening the upright to the step, and the box to the upright.

The current tread will be modified to achieve this.

The boxes will not be attached to the Floorplan. They are also inside the wheelbase.

Step related - Here's a couple images with the mowing deck installed. All the way up, to show clearances.

After rehashing my thoughts today, I made a couple changes to my toolbox plan. The left step and toolbox mount (along with my fuel tank. See my Diesel Transfer Tank-build) were dropped off at the weld shop to be welded together. It's been a year since I put it on my list....lol. Time to Giter Done!!

Looks nice.

I would probably add some "Skate Board" tape, or paint the topside with truck "bed liner paint" to add some "slip protection"

The Rustolem bed liner paint at Wally world works pretty good for 20 bucks a Quart (or half gallon..... I can remember)
Herculiner Qt. (by JB Weld), on Amazon,......$32.34
Excellent product!

I would agree 25 years ago when I got my first BX but now at 81 with some leg issues I think the step is great and I have a kubota factory step on mine , no I don‘t run a middle mower
Never knew that there was a "kubota factory step". Picture please. Thanks

That looks awesome man.

Great idea to have kept it "within wheel base" area and I like how it's "back and out of the way"

Nice looking welds too....,(y)(y)(y)

Every time I seen images of someone who'd mounted a toolbox, for the most, they were great ideas. Problem being, most installs were not on the 23S model. Those methods could not be used, so I had to get creative. I wanted the largest box possible "within" what space was available, without bolting to paint or hanging beyond the WB. Then one day at the scrapyard I found the stuff to make steps. Next I knew, lights come on in my head, and the brain slobbered on me with this idea. It worked as I envisioned. It's been almost a year since "this idea" come to fruition.

The welds, they're not real pretty, but my friend Niel did great job making sure it would be solid to carry the load. Who knows how long it will hold up.

Thanks.

What are the dimensions of the step and the back section? With these dimensions it will be possible for me to duplicate the step on a metal brake. I am thinking that I can make this out of diamond plate and it will work out well for my BX23S.

I'll have to get the dimensions for you tomorrow, I just come in from outside. The last mowing.
