What would anyone suggest as the best repair manual for a L2900 gst?
The tractor has a working clutch, the selector cable is good, steering and loader work as they should. The problem is the tractor doesn’t move in any gear.

How do you know the clutch is working?
And you do know there is 2 or 3 clutches on that model?
How is the steering doing?

Kubota publishes Work Shop Manuals (WSM) that is probably the best one available.

Your dealer may be able to get you one on paper or give you one electronically.

On line dealers like Messicks or Coleman’s can sell you one.

Kubota books dot com may have one available

Steering is fine. I hitched it to an old 9ft haybine that hadn’t been used in years and the pto engaged fine.
I’m unsure what to look for next.

If you look at your messages (envelope top right) I sent you the WSM.
If you want a hard copy take the files to staples and print it.

Thank You very much.
I didn’t know that it has that many clutches, everything seems to work as it should except it doesn’t move.
Yes actually 4:
A mechanical clutch that does both the travel and PTO.
A hydraulic clutch that controls travel.
A mechanical one way clutch for the PTO
A mechanical clutch for the PTO and Mid PTO if equipped.

After reading through some of the WSM I’m thinking it could be one or many things. I don’t have any history on this tractor. I was hoping it was the single stage clutch.

I only know what I've read on OTT. . . The early glideshift transmissions had a hydraulic clutch issue. There is a snap ring around the clutch case that holds the innards in. The groove in the fingers would break, letting the clutch dismantle. The replacement drum is stronger.

I think you can test the clutch hydraulic pressure. If it's low, you may have a broken clutch case, or bad seal rings. Seems like somebody on here was able to see his, maybe after removing the shift mechanism?

Thanks. I’ll look into getting a hydraulic test gauge and the correct adapters and see if I can figure out where to tap into.

The Hydraulic test for the GST clutch is pretty easy to do, it will be in the WSM I sent you.
