Hi all,

I'm not at my tractor right now but I was wondering what the rear end housing was made of.... Aluminum or cast iron?

Thanks.

L's are Cast steel, not cast iron, there is a difference.

Last follow up question:

Have you ever heard of an aluminum case fail?
All of them can fail, Cast aluminum and Cast steel.
They usually fail because some part fails internally, or some extreme extremal force was exerted on them.

The physical size of the B8200,L2502,LX2620 are almost the same, yet the L weighs more.
Have you seen an L2502 alongside an LX2620? If not go visit a well stocked Kubota dealer.

This 50 questions thread does not seem to have a well defined purpose. What am I missing?

I was wondering the reason for the weight difference in my B8200.

The L2501 is bigger and made out of denser material.

Satisfactory?

Dan
Dan,

Did I wrong you in another life? Sorry if there was something that was not appreciative in my voice.

The B8200 stats: 60.4" WB /106.7" Length/Width 55.3"/Weight 1565 lbs
The L2502 stats: 63.4" WB/108.5 " Length/Width 55.1"/ Weight 2833 lbs

So yes the L2502 is 1.8" longer. My question was dealing with material composition for the extra 1300 lbs.

Thank You for your patience.

Sorry if I seem testy but the overall question seems pointless and its been needlesly dragged out with cryptic responses. Maybe I'm just having a bad day...

Ron,

There are many more dimensions and component differences to the equation other than WB and Length and width.

A 56.6 CID engine compared to the L2502's 100.5 CID for example. I would assume, yes I know, lol , dangerous to assume, but the L2502's engine is going to weigh more.
Tires and wheels being larger, on and on.

I would also be willing to bet that even if the L2502 had the same components made out of cast aluminum that the B8200 had , the L2502 would still weigh more.
