Hi I have a 1995 B7100 hst with a front end loader and was wanting to add power steering. I saw pictures of some here that had it. Is there a kit that will work or what do I need. Thanks

midnightman,
I added power steering to my 1995 b7100hst using a control valve from a john deere 400 lawn tractor and a hydraulic cylinder, I was going to use a car pump to power it but could not bring myself to cut the side panel and hood to run the belt out to the pump. Ended up running it off the tractor hydraulic. I am very happy with it. At the time I did mine the guy who offered a kit was out of business ( he was not happy with the clyinder he was using from over seas and he was trying to make his own cylinder/control valve) I got tired of waiting and just made up my own.
He is back in business now and offers a cylinder/ control valve unit all in one piece, which I like , I think it runs about $500.00. I don't have his web site with me but I may be able to find it for you.

Thanks very much Mike. Your setup was what I was thinking about just didn't know for sure what all was needed. I had that web site at one time but like you said he didn't have anything at the time I checked. So if he is back in buisness now that would probley be the way to go. I will check it out and thanks again.

Guys have been building and installing PS systems on tractors for a long time.
Look into Dan Foss steering valves.

If you could imagine a three sided tower bolted to the manual steering bolt holes with valve mounted inside.......new dash mount.....etc......

All you will need is one pressure line, one return line and the two lines to the cylinder.

I've looked at mine and it could be done......I've done this before and it's not cheap.....not something I'm interested in doing again.
But it could be done so that it appears factory and not an add-on.

FWIW-
This is a very rare all in one steering valve and cylinder.......there is a story here but I've forgotten most of it and it's not relevant anyway......but it is interesting.
I only got $350 for it to a collector, my market was small as no one even knew it existed.

Can I do the same for my 79 B7100DT?
I am not clear who you are asking, but if it is me , yes you can do the same as I did, and either run it off the tractor hydraulics or add a power steering pump from a car and run it off that. I will see if I can include a close up picture of my set up.

Midnightman, where in TN. are you? If you are not too far from Clarksville, you are welcome to come by and see what I did and how it works.

I called and tractor power steering has got the kits now. Everything that I need for the power steering. Except the mounting bracket so I guess that would be the best way. Right now i'm rebuilding the loader cylinders trying to get rid of that o ring and back up ring. Thanks everyone.

Hi Mike where are you getting your pressure and return from going to the power steering valve? Thanks James

James,
I have a front end loader on my tractor, so I am taking pressure from the power beyond port to the power steering valve , and returning it to the right side of the tractor to the rear port on the block you get from your kubota dealer. the rear port feeds the three point hitch.

I don't know if that makes sense to you or not , feel free to ask more questions. I will see if I have any pictures of hydraulic tap block that you get from the dealer.

The first picture is the hydraulic block, the line towards the front of the tractor ( right side of picture) is the pressure going to the fel , and the line towards the rear is the return from the power steering valve, and it feeds the three point hitch.

Now I see after looking at your pictures again. I have the same block going to the fel I just didn't see the lines that you had run. So now just getting every thing together. Thanks very much for your help. Here is the one I have got on order. PowerSteering.jpg
It will be less the hoses and bracket. Thanks James

Let me ask you guys a question..........

The valve-on-cylinder system you are installing is a one-off or proprietary design. Is it not?

What will you do if you need it serviced or replacement parts in 2 years or so and the guy selling these units is out of business or can no longer get parts?

The system I installed, I put together myself, control valve came from ebay, it's off an old john deere garden tractor, hydraulic cylinder from surplus center, hoses and fitting I bought local. Total cost $250.00.

One of the nice things about my system , and the one that James is using, is that you don't cut the pitman arm and both systems can be removed and manual steering can be restored in about 10 mins.

Where is Parrrottsville Tn ?

James,

I'm extremely curious as to how yours turn out and am considering a PS kit but was afraid of the complexity of the system. Would you keep us posted on how easy it was to install, cost, etc? I have the same B7100, 4 wheel drive. Is yours the same?

Appreciations,
Sean
