Are all/most BX series fuel tanks interchangeable?

From the parts diagram it looks like BX2200 fuel tanks are different than pretty much any later BX series like the BX2350, but I'm not sure if they're entirely not interchangeable. Has anyone put a newer BX tank in an older BX?

From the diagram it looks like some things moved like pickup, vent, etc., but as long as it fits physically and has the filler neck in the right spot it opens up more options for replacements.

Question - what is wrong with the OEM tank ? Crack? or ???

Might be easier to fix old that retro fit another?

Previous owner drilled a hole through the back of the tank with a sheet metal screw putting new tail lights on. I had a previous thread asking about possible fixes, but if I can get a newer tank that fits for relatively cheap I'd prefer that over a patch.

I remember now - have you removed the tank yet? Thank I cannot remember

Not yet, I'm trying to gather as much info as possible before ripping the whole top of the tractor apart. I need to remove the fender (and everything necessary to take that off) to repair the hole anyway, so removing another fender probably isn't much more work to swap a tank.

waaay different tank than the BX23S or BX2380 series....

if it's just a screw hole, plug with plastic rod, soldering iron 'weld', then apply proper 'epoxy' for whatever 'plastic' the tanks made from.

I too think this is the best answer - even though pulling the tank out ONCE you have dug in that far is simple - buying another or getting another tank will be $$$$$ ...

there has got to be a good way to plug that hole that will last the life time of the tractor.

If it was near the top could you drill and put one of those yellow gas can vents in?

The tanks are physically different, repair the one you have or order the correct tank.

curious was I...
new tank is $788 Canadian...
tube of 'plastic tank epoxy' is $12, and you'll use maybe 10% of it...

Now if you have good access to the hole, no need to remove tank for the 15 minute repair.

There is epoxy/glues that supposedly work better for fuel. I'd look into that if you will fix it.

Maybe a picture of where the hole is on the tank.
If it is anywhere near the filler neck you might be able to thread one of the tire valve style vents on a wire to it after drilling a hole. or it is thick enough there tap for a bolt with an o-ring and then epoxy over it.
