Somewhere I had read about the the engine driven hydraulic pumps leaking past the seal adding oil to the crankcase even after having the seals replaced like it is a bad pump design. I can’t find the thread(s). From what I remember, there really wasn’t a cure for this issue. I have not pulled the pump yet to inspect it. Is there any other way to get hydraulic fluid into the engine crankcase? Any leads to the threads pertaining to this issue are appreciated.

Like any oil seal, they can fail from wear, deterioration, or abuse. They are easily replaceable. The longevity of the repair will depend on the installer and the condition of the hydraulic pump.

I have not pulled the pump yet to inspect it. Is there any other way to get hydraulic fluid into the engine crankcase? It can be poured into the engine oil fill port.

Any leads to the threads pertaining to this issue are appreciated.

When this happened to my b7200 I ended up replacing the entire pump as the end that connects to the rear of the fuel injector pump was very worn. Pump is easy to change.

“It can be poured into the engine oil fill port.”
Well of course, but that’s not what I’m asking.. it is not being sabotaged by anybody, at least not in this case.

Your question was " Is there any other way to get hydraulic fluid into the engine crankcase? "
I stated the only two ways it can get in there.

Not sure about wh the threads say about multiple failures of the seal on the pump.

The design has a seal that can fail and the hydraulic pressure will force hydraulic fluid into the crankcase and cause the oil level to rise. That seal is riding on a shaft and if the shaft is scratched or worn the new seal will fail again in a shorter period of time and then you have more of a problem to solve. The shaft is probably not available as a repair part so the pump may have to be replaced to give longer term solutions to the problem unless you just replace the seal every time it fails.

Please note the oil level should increase the oil level each time the engine is run if the hydraulic pump seal has failed but it will vary depending upon how the tractor is used. If there is not a lot of hydraulic pressure used to provide movement to cylinders then it won’t be pumping a lot of fluid past the seal

One thing I noticed on my old L185F is the oil seems like it is higher than normal if the tractor has been sitting for awhile. But start it and run it for a few minutes and then check it again and the level is about normal. So I know that some seal in the oil filter housing is leaking oil out of the filter into the crankcase.. I have purchased the new part that should fix it but have not installed it yet
