I am sure this question is in the wrong forum, but I am not sure which forum to use for it. My yard is pretty bumpy small holes all over it in some places.

I have read here a few times to use Peat to fill the holes in.

If I get a few bags of peat moss to use, do I just spread it over the existing grass?

Will it stay put and fill th whole with having to add dirt?

Thanks

Usually it'd be added to top soil and compost, as a form of 'triple mix'. Peat is great at retaining water(sponge like..). Assuming a 'lawn', then grass likes it's roots in 'dirt'.
depending on the depth of holes, you may want to add quik grow grass seed as well...

We use sand and compost.
Peat drys and blows and doesn't stay put.
