Hello all - When I bought my tractor, the dealer initially speced out a Gearmore SLE 160 as part of the package. Besides the fact it was over twice the cost as others on the market, the minimum horsepower required was 28, and I am assuming this number is at the PTO (mine is 19.5). Dealer told me not to worry as long as I wasn't trying to mow down a jungle.
As it turns out, they could not source that particular mower prior to delivery, and I'm looking for another. I am having trouble finding one that looks like a good match HP-wise. It is fairly important to me that the mower be 60" wide, as that slightly exceeds my rear track, and I have quite a bit of fencing and other obstacles.
I'm looking for some real world experience here. Have any of you used a flail on your 25-ish HP compact? Just how important is the minimum HP rating? Our land is all grass, so I'm not mulching anything large. It does stay wet until about mid-spring, and some of it is on a hill.
Thanks!
