I am looking at buying the following new, mostly for toting my lx2610 and zero turn around, and any other miscellaneous uses. Can anyone recommend for or against? Didn’t really want to spend this much, but after thinking about it, thought the tilt was worth the extra money.

With payload capacities up to 9,660 lb, the Tandem Axle Tilt
...
that's almost 1,000# difference !!
it'd be intresting to know if we're seeing the SAME trailer.

OK, might be the length ? though I'd thought a 14' would have a higher payload than an 18' one (same running gear,less trailer ??? )

A very nice trailer, from a builder with an excellent reputation!
I think the (narrow, 80.75" deck ) would be a mistake!
The 102" O.A. width is the best for a number of reasons!

dang a buck a pound , to haul around.... trailer's got expensive !!!
rather doubt I can get $4200 for my new 5by8 built though....

You better check with DMV /DOT where you are as there are limits in some states to trailer weight and Taxes /plates and what you can legally haul behind what.
Some states that would be a commercial trailer and Need commercial plates, and they get pretty pricey.
Also some states have weight limit restrictions.
This is all based on your location.
Also I hope your not planning on pulling that with anything less than a 3/4 ton truck.
It's too much trailer for a 1/2 ton.

I pulled my 14K 20' equipment trailer with my 3/4T 4x4 HD Suburban and 454 V--8.
I limited my loaded weight to 12K GVW.
I used a 15K rated Equal-i-zer hitch, and it was sorta OK.
A dooley would have been nice, but was necessary to stay under 26K.

My F150 will tow 10k lbs in its current incarnation and is Wired for trailer breaks. Tha trailer weighs 3000 lbs, so theoretically I could tow something 7000 lbs. My tractor only weighs 2000 lbs. Should be ok and it gives me a little headroom, especially if I get the next size up truck in the future. That is my thinking anyway.

Unless I missed something in you description, why would you be considering a 14K gvwr trailer for an LX tractor? That's waaay overkill. Is the 14K required for the tilt deck?

I'd also suggest that you look for at least a 20 footer. Your LX with a sizeable rear implement (like brush cutter or landscape rake with gauge wheels) will use the entire 20 foot deck length.

Since you're in PA, I would encourage you to take a peek at Appalachian Trailers. See them here: https://www.appalachiantrailers.com/

Appalachian also has tilt deck trailers...for much less that what you were quoted. Give them a call.

I got a 20' 10KGVWR contractor grade trailer with ramps, spare tire and pallet fork pockets for $5,700. It's been a great trailer thus far.

PS - the rating on this trailer is 10K, so you could tow up to 8,500# with a sizeable load (1,500#) on the hitch.

I'm not arguing that it "can't" tow it with a 1/2 ton.
But some locations the trailer capacity must match the towing vehicle or it's in violation, You just need to make sure of your state laws.

Easy work around is to de-rate the trailer when registering it.
If you are towing with a commercially registered vehicle, or are towing a commercially registered trailer, weight limitations may be an issue.
Towing for private/personal use is unlikely to create a weight/inspection problem with a trailer of this size group, in most areas of the US.

I moved to a tilt trailer for hauling my tractors and heavy equipment, it was a great decision. It makes loading real simple and safe. Just make sure the size works for you. I have a PJ tilt trailer, the tilt is 16’ and then I have 6’ of fixed front deck giving 22’ overall deck length. Think about where the weight distribution needs to be and how the weight distribution will be impacted as you add attachments or implements. I like full length rub rails that allow for lots of options where to anchor straps or chains.

it’s nice to have some fixed deck so you can load spare attachments before you load your main machine.

they ride low and keep the load weight low, mine is a goose neck that I pull behind a diesel 3500 GMC.

Do your research and make an informed decision, particularly with the amount of money you are spending.

Yes, the 14K gvwr is overkill, although I was hoping to have a little room to grow. There are more tilt style trailers at the 14K gvwr and up. However, my choice was heavily influenced by the stock at my go to trailer place. Also, the CAM trailers seem to have a pretty good reputation. Although it is hard to tell with so many different reviews and companies changing hands and manufacturing processes over time.

I was actually thinking about Appalachian trailers. I ran into them at the PA farm show this year and took one of their cards. I did see a few negative reviews which gave me pause, but it sounds like you have had a positive experience. All their tilt trailers are 15K gvwr and up. But they do have a 20 foot that has power up and down for several thousand dollars less than the one I was looking at. It is also lighter at 2500 lbs. They are relatively close to me, and this would probably be worth checking out.

I noticed you're in a snowbelt. It is well worth a little extra to get it galvanized instead of paint. In 5 years there is no comparison!

I noticed you're in a snowbelt. It is well worth a little extra to get it galvanized instead of paint. In 5 years there is no comparison!
While galvanizing is really good, it is somewhat rare to see a galvanized construction type trailer in the Eastern USA.
Most manufacturers are likely not set up do do the galvanizing.
Most will push powder coating, which is invariably just crap, waiting to chip off.
A good two part epoxy paint is better than most powder coating on trailers, but of course, galvanizing (if available) IS the best!

Or de-rate it when you accidentally pressure wash off the original sticker and have to replace it with an ebay one.

I think its Uhaul but one of the rental places has trailers that are all galv. Only time ive ever seen them in Maine
