Wheel hub removal 726xkw

I have to repair the left rear wheel hub. I ordered the part and it all seems so straightforward. I removed the pin and bolt and now I cannot for the life of me get the hub off. As far as I can tell via diagrams there are no other hidden parts keeping this on.

The damn thing seems to be superglued on. Tried a hub puller and also heating it up to expand it a bit so it would come off. Hasn't budged at all.

Anyone dealt with this before.

Remove cotter key

LOOSEN (but don't fully remove) the big nut in the middle

MAKE SURE THE PARK BRAKE IS OFF!!

Put your wheel puller on it, leaving the nut on the threads (not snug but not completely off). This will keep the drum from falling completely off...now put some pressure on your wheel puller. With pressure on the hub puller, whack the outside of the drum with a good hammer. They usually pop loose and if you took the nut completely off it then falls on your foot. That's why you leave it on but loose-to catch it when it breaks loose of the tapered shaft.

I gave this a try but nothing. It's like there is something else holding it on. I can spin it but no amount of pressure and wackimg cause the thing to budge an inch.

When you say spin, do you mean spin the hub on the axle or spin the hub/axle assy.

I gave this a try but nothing. It's like there is something else holding it on. I can spin it but no amount of pressure and wackimg cause the thing to budge an inch.

The only things holding the hub onto the axle is the nut and the friction of the tapered shaft. All you have to do is get it to move a couple thousands and it will be loose.
I have removed a couple or more of them.

Spin the hub/axle assy.

Is there a gap between the hub and to nut ? If so then you need more force/larger puller and maybe some heat. Also a sharp hit helps, even a air hammer with a blunt tip will help.

what kind of hub puller are you using?

I've never had one that wouldn't come off, even the stubborn ones, put pressure on it and whack it and they usually fall on your toes and make you think bad things--especially in the winter. Hence, I learned....leave the nut on loosely.

Something else I learn't. A 3 jaw puller won't even begin to budge them. Gotta use a wheel puller.

Just did an Exmark today, very similar. They are stuck and you have to use the right puller to get them off. That, or cut it off so that you are left with just the tapered part on the shaft. Then use a die grinder or dremel to cut a slit in the remainder that's on the axle shaft. Once you have a slot cut into it, grab a good chisel, insert into the slot you just cut, and whack it, it'll split the remainder and then it usually just falls off.

Nothing. Damn thing is stuck. Someone told me not to use the 3 arm puller and gave me a link to a different type so I will try that.

I honestly don't understand what the issue is.
