TG1860, BX2380 -backblade, bx2830 snowblower, fel, weight box,pallet forks,etc
Not new to snowblowers---have had 40yrs+ experience with them, but not on a tractor.
BX2380 with BX2830 48" front commercial blower. 200' gravel driveway + 40x60 parking area +/- + some walkways/paths. I generally snowblow at aprox 3000rpm and in 4wd low range.
So I started out the winter with the shoes all the way down (blower highest off the ground). Worked but messy job. Needed to be here though (still chucked rocks when turning (skids dug in to loose driveway)
Once the ground froze and I got a good base I put them (skids) on the middle setting. Much better. Getting a cleaner cut but still not quite perfect.
Yesterday I raised them all the way up (last setting, blower closest to ground) and went over my already perfectly snowblowed driveway and I surprised myself n that I still chucked a lot of snow on an already-done-the-other-day driveway. I estimate I have 4" of hardpacked snow/ice I am driving on. Hard snow on top.
My question is....the tractor seemed to be working hard to "drag/scrape" the blower along. Like not to the point I was stalling, but I could tell I wasn't just floating along on 2 skids anymore....it was 2 skids and now I was pushing the 4' cutting edge too for much increased resistance.
Anything you guys would do differently?
I am tempted to put it back to the middle setting, but then, maybe I'll just see what it's like during the next snowstorm 2 days from now and perhaps once I get everything shaved down close to level it won't push so hard the next time?
Am I making sense?
