What’s the best way to clean my radiator after bush hogging crp ground.
I’ve done a water hose and leaf blower/air compressor before. I also have a pressure washer. Also which direction do I go with it. Out the front or toward the engine.

i have an L4701

thanks in advance

You probably know this already, but first step is to pull the removable screen in front of the radiator and clean that.

After that, I use air for the routine cleaning; first blowing opposite the direction of normal air flow, so blowing from engine side toward front of machine. Then from front to back; back and forth until nothing more coming out and all clean. Of course cleaning the oil coolers and hood vent screens is also part of the deal. So far, I’ve had no need to clean with anything other than air using an air compressor at about 50psi. Could be because what I’m mowing isn’t particularly gummy or something.

I agree wholeheartedly with the above instructions and do not recommend use of a pressure washer. It can put water in unexpected places where you may not want it.

I use compressed air and a Milton 18" blow gun to thoroughly blow all debris from all of my equipment, radiator included, after every use before returning to buildings.

Rarely find anything in radiator or radiator screen because I do not allow debris to accumulate and do not operate equipment in rain.

I’m not familiar with this machine, but on my L3650 it is the opposite. Airflow direction is from engine to the front of the machine. Screen is on engine side. Remove screen and direct air from front towards engine to clean. I believe the majority of low speed heavy equipment is like this.

Yeah, a lot of low speed equipment air flow is engine to radiator. The L4701 is radiator to engine. Oddly enough, airflow on our two antiques is the front to rear also. 🤷‍♂️

The removable pre-screen is on the front of the radiator away from the engine. Owner manual instructions are quite brief on cleaning. Pretty much just says to do it.

I don’t have the tractor handy at the moment, but the manual does show the location of the removable screen on the front of the radiator.
