Inspection stickers are only required here for busines/commercial operations. However, individuals can get the inspection and sticker and reduce the hassle and time of a highway stop by the DOT.

I measured my MX5100/loader/72" Land pride hog yesterday and was a little short of 25' from the front of the bucket to the end of the tail wheel. Most people would overhang the hog but if you wanted it all on a flat deck and correctly weight loaded then that would be a really long trailer.

Every rancher in our area hauls livestock trailers weighing a lot more than 10k. Few of them have CDLs.

I know a guy that hauled a dozer behind a 3/4 ton. We're in the country, it'll be fine.

Few months later he has a 1.5 commercial truck to tow it. He either got pulled over or destroyed the 3/4 ton.

Our local metal yard has an 18 wheeler scale that people use to weigh trailers. The local trash dump might let you use their scale for free if you ask nicely. Only way to know 100% what you weigh is to put it on a scale.

In Ontario a CVOR is required unless there is a personal use exemption. The truck must be under 6,500kg (14,300 lbs) manufacturer's rated GVRW, have the original box and be used for personal use (means it can't be hauling equipment that is normally used for commercial purposes, even if you claim it is for personal use). Trailers used for commercial purposes must also have an inspection sticker.

If the gross weight of the trailer exceeds 4,600kg (10,120lbs) then a class A truck driver's license is also required.
Canada has VERY different regulations!
Probably even has a required trailer paint color ;)

yeah, one of the STUPIDEST ones is that all cars/trucks have to have a license plate light...
Really.... if the cop can't see my plate, he's driving around at night with TWO busted headlights.

interesting law... ANY trailer that has 3500# total weight(trailer plus load) MUST have working brakes..

mfrs list trailers at 2990#, to bypass the law for brakes, even though axles are '3500#' rating.

It varies from province to province, much as US states vary.

Even the brakes requirement varies -- some require brakes on all axles, others on only one.

But as far as I know, the only colour requirements involve the lighting. And that is pretty standard across North America.

I was being facetious about Canada trailer color requirements.
Having owned a seasonal residence in Canada for a number of years, I found that Canada has a regulation for just about everything!

We don't have any color regulations. Just colour regulations.
